An excellent prize giving and luncheon took place at Richmond Park Golf Club last Saturday. The Born to Runners were lucky enough to pick up some delightful trophies. Zorro, Henrietta and dear little Moss each received recognition.
Zorro took the Phyliss Gooch Memorial Trophy for Dogs. In the picture, that is the cut glass bowl. Henrietta took the Colin Neville Trophy for winning the first ever 32 dog lure coursing stake for whippets. That is the silver rose bowl. We are very proud of that little piece of history. The Banatay Bouncer Trophy ( on the right of the picture ) was won at Henham by Henrietta. The tankard is the Pete Kennard Memorial Trophy and that was won by Moss. The greyhound in the background is just to fill the picture (w00t) The running dog at the front was won by Henrietta at Great Habton ,provided by Appin Ltd, with whom Patrick has connections.
These are the fruits of a first class lure coursing season, enjoyed by everyone. We all look forward, I am sure, to next season for more exciting sport.
If any of you reading this would like to visit us at one of our meetings as a spectator or competitor next season, we would be very pleased to see you. We normally commence during September. We have this season gained some new members but there is always room for more.
It is hoped to stage a social function on a date to be agreed which will involve a BBQ and racing to which guests will be welcomed with or without whippets to come and see what we do and get a flavour of the enjoyment and excitement that this sport provides. Details will be announced in due course :luck:
