 Hi.... has anyone else had any dealings with this company?

we recently lost little Rue and I am still waiting for this company to pay out on his claim... this is from the 2nd week in august....

I have just discovered that they do not pay out for euthinesia? why not when they make all these stipulations in their policy small print... ie. if you have your dog put to sleep for no good reason... like can't afford it. blah blah blah....

I have been looking into insuring with M&S.... they sound too good to be true...

has anyone else insured with them, what's your opinion of the?

when I last phoned my vet I asked what the worst insurance company they dealt with where... Not surprisingly it was E&L

Is that Cockney rhyming slang...... E&L = HELL!

I have known a few people who have insured horses with E&L and they have not been happy with them either - they always seem to try a way out of paying out on any claims and also take forever to pay out any monies due. I have insured our new pup with Sainsburys after having a trawl on the internet at various companies - they seem to have a pretty decent policy and have won a couple of awards for best pet insurance company etc. I have also heard that PetPlan are not that special and are one of the most expensive to insure with.

I do feel sorry for you as on top of losing your dog, you have the added strtess of E&L. I hope you manage to sort it out soon.

Our vets HATE E&L. Getting a claim paid by them is like pulling teeth, as they manage to find all kinds of loopholes, or just ignore claims altogether.

I was with Pet Plan for several years and would have happily stayed with them no matter what the cost except that I found Marks & Spencer had a very similar policy where we could insure 3 (when we got Teya) for only £4 more than I was already insuring 2 for.

Look at the small print - I read through the policy for 3 months before switching. PetPlan never batted an eye at any claims and althoughe xpensive I would still recommend them. M&S has been fantastic with payouts as well. There is a thread in the archives on them with more info.

I had 5 with E & Hell  , now only 2 . My vet says thyare the worst payers too . They have paid out for eventually for Mayzzee and Molle , still waiting to see if they find an excuse NOT to pay for Mollee this time  Ive cancelled mayzees` . shes 13 now and not only do I have to pay first £75.00 BUT I also have to pay the first 35% of the remainder too (w00t) .

Ive got some of my others with M&S, but really hoping I dont need to claim at all :luck: :luck: :luck: . Thought about putting money away , but the bills are far too much even to have saved up :(

ring them up or write to them and tell them about what a bad rep they have and how many folk there are on this site and how everyone is waiting with interest to see if they pay up and how long it takes. :- "

What a good idea. :huggles: Will have to check the company the vet uses to send in these claims , has sent it off . then will go from there .

Will keep you updated ,

We're with M&S, paid the vet, filled in a claim form ( which came with the policy info ) asked the vet to sign it, they sent it off, a cheque came in the post about 2-3 wks later (don't know how soon the vet posted the claim) in the same envelope was a claim form ready for next time....hope there isn't one.

I paid £5 extra a year for nil excess.

I think they're good. Also brill with holiday insurance - no messing about
