Now then, our jill seems to have a problem with her left ear, and the top of her head, every so often she will come to me or the wife to have her left ear scratched, in fact its the first thing she wants me to do in the mornings, by the way she flaps her ears often, ive checked and cleaned both ears, as for the top of her head, she will head butt the grass to scratch it, im thinking my vet if it doesnt clear up

thanks

Well, theres a thought, thank you.

I'm in Australia so I dont know if it's the same over there but here you can buy ear cleaner for dogs in your pet supplies store without having to go to the vet. Maybe you could give that a try first.

I've had 2 whippets with grass seeds in their ears & they shook their heads really violently. One was very lucky not to get a cauliflower ear from it. I had to take them to the vet immediately so I suspect that's not the problem with Jill.

Hope she gets it sorted soon.

A few months ago my pup woke up one morning shaking her hear & scratching both ears, they had been fine the day before. The ear flaps were really swollen & hot like cauliflower ears. It was really odd that it had come up overnight.

I took her to the vets, on a Sunday, double the price. The vet said there was no infection down there & gave me some drops. Well that just made it worse cos every time I put drops in she shook & scratched even more. After 2 days I gave up on the drops & let the ears dry out for a few days & then used "thorn-it" ear powder like I use for the bedlington who used to have bad ear problems. Its good stuff & touch wood shes not had any more trouble with her ears.

have u tried drops for ear mites u can get drops from the pet shop as well use the mite drops at night and then clean them in the morning, should be sorted in a few days.

I'm a Thornit fan, I have never had any ear problems with any of my dogs. I clean the ears every week and put a dusting down into the ear.

It isn't expensive and lasts for ages.

Good luck Keith.
