Well what a day!

Yesterday was race day, we had planned having 'bends' and I had forgotten this. Sorry turned up at my usual time! I arrived to find everyone had parked on the grass, rather than the car park. I pulled up and let the girls out for a pee. There I meet Sue & Richie, they hadn't been for ages, good to see them.

Once I realised the day was going to be different I was ready to start, I was getting excited about the meet, I have been taking the girls racing since missy was about 8 months (shes 2 1/2 now) and the club had not had a bends meet in all the time I'd been going.

Both missy & molly were down for trials as this was the first time, they went well and it was thrilling to watch. It was great fun to watch all the dogs for one you could see both the start and the finish and the dogs performance during the race. It was great to see the girs going round.

Serveral people stated that they went well around the bends and had no problems with them. The girls were in high spirits and wanted to continue around and around the course! to go again and again. They had a race between them before the end and molly won, no surprise as she wins against her daughter on the straight but interesting to see what would happen.

We all got started on dismantling the course and in no time we had it cleared, raffle complete, I won a bottle of wine, great stuff and then the drive home.

I was knackered but what a day, fantastic day, lots of laughs and good company with the most exciting day in a long while.

Sue, your girls did you proud! I agree with you, it was a lovely day and all went so smoothly. The bend may not have been run for some time but you would never have guessed. In all my years of racing I had never helped assemble a bend track so I was happy to see the owners and dogs enjoying the bend. It was good for me to be able to trap my dogs, watch the race and pick them up at the finish without assistance. Always a brilliant atmosphere at Newmarket, thanks to Carol, Dave and Nicola, and our lovely mix of members.

Thanks guys for the comments.

We were so lucky with the weather and all the helpers puting up the track. We had good racing but excellent trials, and that was what the meeting was about, not who won but who enjoyed the day.

If we have some rain we will certainly do it again.

We thank all our members who attended together with visitors who we hope will come again, all helped in some way even by attending everybody did there part and we could not do it with out you.

I will put the results on latter as Dave is calculating the points & has the race program.

Many Thanks

Carol
