Highgate Greyhound Racing (2012) Ltd are extremely pleased to announce that a management contract to run greyhound racing and other activities at the Ellesmere Greyhound Stadium has been negotiated with the current lease holders—final discussions have been taking place tonight. Highgate Greyhound Racing (2012) Ltd wish to confirm that ownership of the lease to the stadium has not been purchased and WILL remain with the current leaseholder, but all stadium activities will be under the control and management of ourselves.
When we took control of Highgate in Goldthorpe, we stated that the track was and will always be our number one priority and we believe that everyone who uses our track will agree that this is the case. This ethos will be repeated at Ellesmere Port and we will continue the work started by the leaseholder which has included preparation of the track and refurbishment of the stadium infrastructure.
We have read with interest the many discussions in this forum and sincerely hope that everybody who wishes to see this great track thrive again, owners/trainers, bookmakers and patrons will all unite to take “The Port” forward.
We will respect the heritage and legacy of probably the best galloping independent greyhound track in the UK, but obviously changes will be made—not for the sake of change but to stay relevant in today’s environment.
When racing commences in the very near future, we are considering racing on Saturday afternoons and would welcome any comments on this especially from Ellesmere Port owners and trainers, patrons and bookmakers. We can see distinct advantages of Saturday afternoon racing especially during the Winter months.
Ian, senior member of the management team stated “We are extremely pleased and proud to be associated with Ellesmere Port as it is a valuable addition to our portfolio and fits perfectly into our expansion plans. We will re-open for racing as soon as possible and look forward to providing exciting but above all safe racing for all our patrons.”
As a management team, we are approachable to discuss any issue and wish to open dialogues with all interested parties as soon as possible. We will keep everyone updated on all developments.
