 I may be on the totally wrong track, but, with what has happened with this years English Whippet Derby, with regards to bad ground etc., I would suggest that it should return to its' original format and schedule, which was Easter weekend! Also, it was originally meant to be run in a different region every year. This was to give each region the chance to host a major event. With the events that have taken place, with regards to the ground and the switching to a different venue, a lot of racers, for varying reasons, have decided, not to race in the Derby. I, personally think this is a shame, but, when folk have booked, what they thought was their main holiday, to suddenly be asked to run at a different venue, some miles away from where originally designated, one cannot blame them for not participating! Let's face it, life and travelling is difficult enough without adding to their difficulties! This is not to say that I do not wish all, who take part, the best of Luck and I hope all who run, come home safe! IMO
