Now that I see the results of this show here, I really want to give some explenation about what happenned there .

In bitches, the judge pointed to Jen ( Boxing Helena's Eva So Sweet ) for the CAC / IB , and of course I was very happy, and went to the sign of first place.

Daydream Di Mahana was still in the ring, and her owner started to explode. He told the judge some things ( what I didn't hear ) but it must have made an impact on the judge, because he came to me, and said he made a mistake.

If I would be so kind to go to the res CAC, so he could make Daydream best bitch.

Can you immagine . Anyway, I will get the full ticket as Daydream is a Belgian champion, so I have what I want, but it is not correct what happened.

And even as a lot of people told me to call someone of the organistaion, or to make a complaint, I don't see the point of it, because what will help this, or what will change this.

It shows again how much influence some breeders have on judges, even if all visitors can witness it, they just don't care. Being first that's all that matters.

That is a very bad episode and distressing to hear.

Apart from the poor sportmanship, the judge should NEVER have allowed an outburst like that to change his mind after he had already awarded another dog. He should have stood his ground with his decision and either told the other exhibitor to stop the behaviour or ask him/her to leave the ring. He should never have awarded such behaviour.

I rarely publicly complain about anything but I think if that had happened to me (in your position) I think I would have complained.

Actually it would be nice to think that I would have stood my ground when the judge asked me if I "would be so kind" as to move to res CC, and said "No, I will not be so kind. You placed me here and this is where I am staying." but I don't really know if I would be so brave.

How very sad for you. As Aslan has said that is very poor sportsmanship. Who was the judge?

Thats what happens when you do too much winning , you expect NEVER to be beaten (w00t) How very sad for all concerned :(

How awful for you , but it has shown the mans true nature  and also what a weak judge the judge was  ,

Who was the judge? so we know what to do should they judge over here

The judge was Dhr. J-L Brassat-Lapeyriere (F) , and I must say he did a good judgement. ( and I know he liked my Jen so that's fine for me )

Some people are not so strong , and maybe he was just a bit overwelmed, and did things he regretted later. Who will know .....

Of course if you judge you have to know what to do, and make HIS own decissions.

Yes, a lot of people told me the same :)

But it all happens so fast, and you can't believe it.

After you go out of the ring, you think by yourself, " why didn't I do this ? why didn't I say this ? ...."

Some people tell me now, next time you win, you take the sign of 1st in your hands. When the ringstewart or judge will ask me why I do this, I can say " because you can not take it away anymore from me " :D

Again, I had so many bad experiences with the same people, that I don't care so much anymore for them, or what they do. I don't even care anymore to make myself angry for it. I want to spend my energy with other things.

I must say, that I heard last weekend in Amsterdam, that this owner told people the story how it happens, and he was so proud to tell it, because this shows how much power and influence he has on judges .

Some people use dogshows for their own ego, to prove themselves, some of us use dogshows for showing our dogs, our breeding stock , and use dogshows to have a great weekend with friends and dogs.

I try to be one of the last ones

Well said ,

Im not sure I would have been so calm :- " , but as you said youve had experiances of this `person `before and you are right to `rise above it and him`

For him to be proud of himself shows just how sad and deluded he is  , but Im sure he has plenty of `hangers on ` who hang on to his every word , But we certainly dont need people like that in any breed , let alone Whippets .

Please keep him your side of the English Channel :huggles:

If ever I get like that , will someone tell me please ;)

I note he didnt get BOB at Amsterdam  beaten by an british bred whippet too

I was near the ring in Amsterdam, enjoying the judgements. And seeing another bitch taking the ticket and another the res ticket, gave me a good feeling, only because it shows there are also others who CAN win from Daydream.

When the judge in Kortrijk placed her at the CAC, and Jen at the res CAC, the owner said to the judge " this is ok, it is like it is used to be "

The first time I showed Jen against Daydream was in Oostende this year, and Jen took the BOB ( and later BIG ) -so it is not as it is used to be .... but I didn't say anything .... why ?? pppffff.... this judge could think what he wants.

I admit Daydream is a super bitch, she shows wonderfull , but that doesn't mean there are no others who are also good. And besides, right now, you can see Daydream is tired of showing, she has no light in her eyes anymore. Also judges will notice this.

And other new dogs will come, and good ones... that's how it always was, and always will be.......

That's right and we have to hold those things dear otherwise we would be so easily disillusioned with some of the things that go on in the dog world and none of us would stay very long and only the bad eggs would be left to cheat, co-erce, pay for, or bully their way into winning.

"To thine own self be true"

I used to show (in another lifetime) but was so disillusioned with the ethics that I gave up. Maybe I'll give it a go again sometime.

I think that this episode should be reported. If people, both exhibitors and judges, are allowed to get away with such a behavior it will only get worse.

I have also witnessed similar thing many years ago; an owner of enormous Great Dane (towering over all the others) became very vocal when other was pulled out for the Best Bitch. She actually marched out of the line to the judge yelling at him! But this judge was not going to intimidated, even with this giant dog looking down at him, and send them out of the ring. :D
