i thought this was an excellent reply

Is anyone surprised that greyhounds are just commercial spare parts at the end of their running life when they can no longer perform for the baying public? I can think of no other entertainment industry in this country apart from horse racing where animal abuse is so widespread from the breeding through the selecting of the fit and discarding the unfit and the methods of training, racing and disposal of the worn out bodies which even in death must turn a profit for someone. Shame on this country for tolerating such disgraceful behaviour, shame on the punters, breeders and owners for not weeding out those of their number who put profit above animal care.

I'm totally sickened by this, but not altogether surprised. There have been rumours about this sort of thing flying around for years; I doubt this is the only clinic involved.

So long as there are thousands of unwanted greyhounds generated by the racing industry every year they are going to be surplus to requirements and vulnerable to exploitation.

At least these dogs are put to sleep by a vet, not with a bolt-gun to the head in someone's shed. :(

As the owner of a beautiful Retired Greyhound, how sad this is,but not surprising.

I feel sickened,my Greyhound is loving, affectionate, and has really made me take an interest in what happens to these fabulous dogs, both racing, and after.

These are facts, and am not knocking or defending this practice.

I raced a Greyhound called Amerish(amiee), I retired her when she was just under 5 with a gras injure and took her home.

When she got to 14 she started limping and I took her to this practice.

"Fact.... John O`Conner who runs this clinc only worked from Tuesday to Thursday and went to Ireland over the weekend to a practice he ran there."

This was Friday and Amiee was seen by a Female Vet, Limp was looked at, X-ray taken Dianosed in Five Minutes BONE CANCER.

Charged £54 given Ryimdle(sp)

Took her back 4 weeks later to be PTS and was asked if her body parts could be used by the RVC and was happy to agree.

Hope it just might have helped a trainee vet.

I have also donated my organs.Should help doctors to see what Drink does to the body.
