I tried to get to the Thurrock track yesterday, but with one thing and another, basically the mum-in-law was late getting to ours...and everything went to pot...and I only live within a mile of the place, takes less than fifteen minutes to walk...

So, I had a look at the forthcoming calender, and thought yeah club racing thats fine. But, when I looked at traveling...I began to think of the cost, fuel now is totally priced over the top, I can't remember when I saw diesel or petrol less than £1 a litre, think about that...that's horrendous, it was about 30p gallon when I was kid...but I guess we didn't have a car, or if we did, we didn't go too far that often. What with entrance fee's, raffles, food, drinks etc. How much does a day's racing cost? Anything from £20 locally to £100 for an event a couple of hundred miles away? The last time I went to Asfordby, in August 2005 I think, with the b&b etc, I reckon we spent £300 over 3 days...My mates have just had a weekend in Barcelona for less than that :b

And living in rip-off Britain means just today I've had to up my direct debits for our gas and leccy, the council tax is gonna go up, and they reckon food is up 25% on last year due to whatever reason than can find...

How will big racing events survive if this continues...I sure ain't got any idea's...

Cos, I know most of my ol' mates have been priced out of going to the football, just because of the ticket prices, let alone the travel etc...

Paul

Some of you may not be aware of Red Diesel. This is a legal form of diesel specifically produced for agricultural vehicles, like tractors, combine harvestors and high powered Subarus owned by young farmers. However the mere fact that this fuel exists is proof that there is already a secret form of rural and urban fuel pricing. I know there are already traffic pricing plans in place to curb traffic congestion.

A hanky for your exhaust and a lemsip for your washerbottle, like the schemes in London etc where you have to pay to go into a city. BUT, and here is a crazy thought, what if you did the same with fuel? By that, I mean have petrol stations on motorways charge MORE than those on "A" roads. I know that rip off garages do a bit of there own cashing in on the Townies. Tell the American's to pay their fair share.

any american president who increased fuel charges on those gas guzzling american cars would be out of office quicker than a pres who tried to introduce gun control laws.trust me i know.i lived there for years.

Think we should all think about moving to the USA , as for our gun laws dont even get me going on that one

Just been rang by a mate..£58 for a ticket tonight!! Are you having a laugh, another £12 for a train ticket, a tenner for a beer and a pie, and then cos the trains are crap (I'll have to wait for the 11.52 at Liverpool St. to Grays) and of course, the buses would of stopped about 4 hours ago, so it'll be another 6 quid for a cab....Thats £86! to go to the football!! Seriously this is rip off Britain...doesn't matter what you do...

Yeah, so next vacancy...let me know...do I have to wear a suit...or just a borrowed uniform?
