When I look in my catalogue and see the entries in other breeds and hear people (and I am pleased for them) full of glee that they have won the CC from an entry of 15.

I wonder if it would be a good idea to have another set of CCs on offer if, say the breed had an entry of more than 300 at a show. This would probably mean only club shows and general shows with two judges. NOT to be offered before the closing dates but when entries have closed.

So instead of a CC and RCC you would have 2 CCs and one RCC the 4 CC winners competing for best of sex and BOB. The CC only states that the dog is of high enough merit to be a CH it doesnt say anything about being the best dog or bitch, sometimes judges say the CC could have gone to three or four of the exhibits.

I personally LIKE it being hard to get a CC but feel the odds for some breeds, ie Goldens and of course Whippets are pretty long and many excellent dogs are being missed.

Anyway your thoughts please

WOT???? More than 1 CC. That is just not cricket.

However, with the high number you get there, another system might work. Maybe a modified use of the U.S. system.

Say 1 CC for a sex entry of 200. Then another for each 50 over that.

Another way is fawns dont count.

I think it's so noticeable when you look on sites eg Highampress and see the very poor entries some breeds get and the high rate of absenteeism. Whippet entries at some Open Shows are larger than many breeds get at champ shows. It is certainly food for thought Karen.

I don't know about extra CC's, but I think this is where a champions class would help out. The winner of that cannot compete for the ticket, but can compete for BOB

Some of these lesser supported breeds make me laugh. Somebody I know went a long way to a champ show where her breed had CC. As it ended up, her 2 bitches were the only females there! One got the ticket, but the judge witheld the Reserve.

Gotta laugh!!

but what is the achievement in that  ? It might be the most wonderful specimen of that breed but to have very little competition cant make you feel good about the win can it  same as getting a good win when you know its not the dog that is winning , but who is up the lead  Not that that happens over here of course :- "

I think thats great idea Karen .200 plus of one sex and you get 2 CCs to hand out , cos as you say . it dosnt say best of Sex does it :D

I think it is an excellent idea, any one any ideas on how we get the kennel club to see it though?

What has Cartman got against fawns - I thought he was such a nice young man :- " - until I read that. (w00t)

I think Res cc's should actually count, ie 3 res cc's should equal one cc !!!!!

I agree, something should perhaps be done about this, for example Archie's dad who has 1cc and about 11 or 12 res CC's - surely this is enough to be a Champion when the entries are so high and competition so great

I also think this is a good idea but perhaps a few more than 3 just to be sure of the quality.
