C an anyone please give advice on this particular problem. My vet is suggesting that I feed my whippets on a complete all inclusive food and has suggested one or two examples. I would like your opinions on this type of food and your suggestions on which particular type I might try.

Thank you all.

Hi Del,

Most of the Compleat Dry foods are realy good, if you intend to race then you're better off with one of the racing foods (ie: Red Mills, Gain, Wafcol ect) that are 27% protien but if you're just keeping it/them as pets them most dry foods will keep them looking & feeling good.

Hi Del

I tried answering befor but for some reason I didn't get through.

My wife & I have two small dogs one of which is a racing whippet. We feed our dogs on a Bones And Raw Food (BARF) diet. We get chicken wings in bulk from our local butcher and chicken carcasses from a local farm. These we freeze in sufficient quantities to last 3 days at a time. About once a month I make up a minced vegetable mix into which goes all sorts of veg plus fruit and heart, liver offal etc. plus a few additives. This again is frozen into 3 day batches. They also get lamb bones plus the ocassional rabit.

Both dogs enjoy this natural diet and the whippet, whilst only just over 13months old, is not doing badly on the track.

There are a couple of very good books on this subject by Dr Ian Billinghurst.

Cheers

Dennis

I think everyone has different views on feeding and I personally think its down to what suits your dogs.I have 6 dogs and I feed a natural complete food, loads of fresh raw meats ,cooked veggies, bones, raw chicken wings legs etc plus fresh garlic, parsley and mint (and the odd Rabbit)My husband says the dogs are fed better than he is :b
