FERGUS
Meet the fabulous Fergus. Fergus is a 2 year old greyhound boy who is now looking for his forever family as he is no longer fast enough for the track. He is an absolutely stunning boy with a blue coat with brownish undertones that almost shimmers in the light. No picture can do this boy justice, he is sure to turn heads wherever he goes.
Fergus is a big tall boy, but has exceptional manners and anyone could walk him. He never pulls and responds to the slightest correction of the lead. He is still a young dog and has a lot to learn about the world outside of kennels, but showing it to him would be a fantastically rewarding experience. He is a calm, laid back boy who just wants to be loved by his people.
Fergus is well behaved with the other greyhounds in our kennels and enjoys spending time with them. He has not been tested yet with smaller dogs or cats, but these can be carried out prior to adoption if required.
Like most greyhounds, Fergus is a total couch potato and does not need a huge amount of exercise. He will be content with two 30min walks a day and perhaps a chance to stretch his legs offlead in a safe area once or twice a week.
Fergus has sadly not yet been in a home environment, so new owners will need to be a bit understanding at the start and give him time to learn the house rules. It generally takes greyhounds 10-14 days to start to settle in a home, and really all they need is time and patience. With such good looks and a fantastic personality to boot, we hope that dear Fergus wont be waiting too long for a home to call his own.
In general greyhounds are calm, mannerly dogs that are well used to being handled. They can fit very well in to a wide range of different lifestyles and usually adjust to the home life very quickly. Their soft, easy going nature often makes them ideal to live in a family with children, while their love of lazing around and low exercise requirements can make them perfect for the elderly. Greyhounds also don’t shed as much as other more popular dog breeds and this can make them suitable to live with allergy sufferers.
Fergus is currently being kennelled in Co. Kerry, Ireland, and can be transported via Kerry Greyhounds to the UK or Europe if a suitable home offer comes up. This will be organised and paid for by Kerry Greyhounds, and we ask only for a donation to help cover costs. Please note that adopters will need to travel to our nearest collection point to pick him up. He is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, de-flea'd and wormed and a homecheck will be required as part of the adoption procedure.
If you are interested in fostering or adopting Fergus, please email me on tamakin_84@yahoo.co.uk for our adoption application form and information pack. Thanks!
