I have a few things i don't understand so was hoping to get answers here.

I have a whippet X grey that i'd like to start racing at Old Hall (soon as i can get over there).

What are the registration clubs?

Do i need to join a racing club?

Can i register a dog that i have no history/pedigree on?

I'm sure i'll be offered plenty of advice when i make it to Old hall but we've had time & transport issues so haven't been able to make it over there yet :(

I know absolutely nothing about racing but i'm hoping to have a lot of fun and days out with my girl and just want to know if there's anything important i need to know before i look like a complete clown :b

Im sure someone will be along with much better answers than I can give soon but till then

First of all welcome to the wonderful wacky world of non ped whippet racing

I'm sure you will be given a very warm welcome at Old Hall they are a lovely lot and are very welcoming to newcomers, they were to us when we were newcomers not so long ago.

The two principal registration organisations are the BWRA and the NNWRF ( both have sections on this site)

To join the BWRA you have to be a member of an affiliated club but your ok because Old Hall is such a club. As far as I know you don't have to belong to a club to join the NNWRF

When it comes to registering your dog I wouldnt worry too much to start with. You will be welcomed at Old Hall whether your dog is registered or not. You only really have to worry about your dog being registered if you want to go open racing. My understanding is that when the organisation tightened their rules regarding the registering of litters it was said that each case such as yours would be judged by the committees on a case by case basis

As I said first off Im sure you'll get more advice soon, I hope you really enjoy Old Hall

Good luck with your racing

 AS A LONG STANDING MEMBER OF OLD HALL, I CAN ASSURE YOU THAT YOU WILL BE MADE VERY WELCOME. I SUGGEST THAT YOU COME ALONG, ANY SUNDAY FROM 10.00 A.M. ONWARDS AND GET TO KNOW THE MEMBERS AND WATCH THE TRIALLING ETC., YOU WILL SOON GET TO KNOW THE ROUTINE AND WE WILL ALL HELP IN ANY WAY WE CAN. IF, WHEN YOU COME, YOU LIKE WHAT YOU SEE, THEN YOU CAN DECIDE IF YOU WANT TO BECOME A MEMBER. THE ADVANTAGE OF MEMBERSHIP IS THAT YOU NO LONGER HAVE TO PAY FOR TRIALLING, BUT AS YOU ARE NOT AT THAT STAGE YET, YOU CAN TAKE YOUR TIME AND LEARN AS MUCH AS YOU CAN. GOOD LUCK!
