Hi all, I felt in love with Italian greyhounds years ago during a holiday in Ibiza, where I saw this tiny beautiful creature with a couple in the street and had to run after them to ask them all about the dog.

Now, 3 years later, me and my boyfriend are ready to welcome our first dog in our lives and of course we had decided him to be an IG.

I have been researching and reading about this breed for a long time and I know it would be perfect for us and our apartment. We love animals and want a gentle intelligent and sensitive dog to share our lives with. And this little one would be so perfect!

Now, the problem is that they seem impossible to find! We want to buy our puppy from a registered breeder and in Dublin, Ireland, where we live, we can't find any. I wouldn't mind to travel to the UK to get mine, but even there seems very difficult.

Please please can you help? Where did you get yours? How long was the wait and how much is a fair price for a well raised pedigree blue male?

Please do you have any contacts? I would really like to have mine home by the summer the latest.

Please let me know, your help will be much appreciated.

Also, any other recommendations from IG owners are more than welcome.

Thanks

Adela

Hi Adela, sorry for the late reply but i havent logged in for a few days as i have been so busy!

You say you are in Dublin & to my knowledge there are no IG breeders in Ireland, i know there are a couple people who have IGs & show them over there but to my knowledge they do not breed.

You need to contact a reputable breeder but be prepared to have a wait. Reputable breeders do not breed continuously & normally always have a waiting list BUT its worth waiting to get a healthy well reared puppy by a knowledgeable responsible person.

The best thing to do is to contact the Italian Greyhound Club Secretary & see if she has a list of any reputable club members who maybe have litters due. You would be best to wait until after 16th March as the club is going through some changes & the new Secretary will be in place then.

Hope this helps.
