FLASH

**UPDATED: JULY 2012**

The stunning Flash is a female ex-racing greyhound who will be 2 years old in September. Flash was not fast enough to compete in the racing world, so despite her young age she was going to be euthanized if she couldn’t find a rescue placement. Luckily she now has a chance at finding a loving family to call her own.

Flash is a truly stunning dog. Her black coat is beautifully smooth and silky, accentuated nicely with the bright white flash down her neck and chest. She is a lean, dainty girl with delicate features and huge amber eyes that seem to pierce your very soul! Amber is a small lady at just 24” to the shoulder, and so wouldn’t take up much space on your sofa!

~ Personality ~

Flash has the personality to match her beautiful features. She is very sweet with oodles of love and playful fun to give to whomever decides to give her space on their sofa. She always looks for the joy in life and is a very happy-go-lucky sort of girl. We are still getting to know her as she is our newest addition, but so far she has been just super.

~ In the Home ~

Flash has sadly not been in a home environment before, so new owners will need to be a bit patient during the first couple of weeks and allow her time to settle in and learn the home rules. It generally takes 10-14 days for new greyhounds to start to settle down in a home, and really all they need is a bit of time and patience. Once this girl discovers what toys are all about, we’re sure she’ll keep her new family laughing on a daily basis!

~ Other Animals ~

Flash is well behaved with the other greyhounds in the kennels, and we feel she would be most content in a home with another young dog to play with. She has not been tested with small dogs or cats but these can be carried out prior to adoption if required. Often ex-racing greyhounds need a bit of socialisation with smaller dog breeds as they would never have seen them before, and at the start may not realise they are dogs!

~ Out and About ~

Flash lives for her walks and the chance to explore the world around her. She has not seen much of it yet, but that gives all the more opportunity for her new family to show and teach her about the big wide world. This girl has huge potential and it will be so rewarding to show her that there is indeed more to life than kennels and racing.

~ Greyhounds as Pets ~

In general greyhounds are calm, mannerly dogs that are well used to being handled. They can fit very well in to a wide range of different lifestyles and usually adjust to the home life very quickly. Their soft, easy going nature often makes them ideal to live in a family with children, while their love of lazing around and low exercise requirements can make them perfect for the elderly. Greyhounds also don’t shed as much as other more popular dog breeds and this can make them suitable to live with allergy sufferers.

~ Where Am I? ~

Flash is currently being kennelled in Norfolk, UK. She can be homed anywhere in the UK, but please note that you will be required to travel to us in Norfolk to meet her.

~ Want To Adopt Me? ~

Flash is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, de-flea'd and wormed and a homecheck will be required as part of the adoption procedure. This girl would greatly benefit from being in a foster home, and Kerry Greyhounds UK is always in desperate need of new fosterers. It is such a rewarding experience, and costs are covered by the rescue.

If you are interested in adopting or fostering Flash, please visit either our website’s Adoption Page: http://s300889640.websitehome.co.uk/uk/adoption.html or Fostering Page: http://s300889640.websitehome.co.uk/uk/Fostering.html for information and instructions on our homing & fostering procedures. ~~ KERRY GREYHOUNDS UK ~~

Kerry Greyhounds UK is a small voluntary organisation that is based in Norfolk, England. It focuses on rehoming unwanted Irish greyhounds and lurchers, as huge numbers are bred in Ireland each year and homes are few and far between. KGUK operates through a network of volunteers spaced over Ireland and the UK. We can look after approximately 30 dogs at any one time in both kennels and foster homes.

Each dog is neutered, vaccinated, & microchipped before being adopted (unless stated otherwise).

We assess the suitability of all home offers, and we have homed greyhounds in all corners of the UK.

Our Website: http://www.kerrygreyhounds.co.uk

If interested in one of our hounds, please visit our website’s Adoption Page for information and instructions on our homing procedures. Once you have filled in and returned the application form, we will then contact you via phone or email to discuss adopting one of our hounds in more detail.

If you have any further questions, don’t hesitate to contact us. I (Tam) can be contacted through the following email:
