I'm in need of some advice please! I have a 4yr old akita x bullmastiff who is moulting and decided it would be a good idea to go down a fox hole at the wkend. After we pulled her out by her tail (she was all the way in!!!) and bought her home, we realised she was scratchin badly, so i checked her coat. she has a double coat, so was hard to notice anything there, but then suddenly something jumped on me! i screamed, which made the dog bark, then the children screamed. i think it was a flea, a really big one!!! we've never had to deal with fleas before and now i dont know what to do!!!

im going to get some flea treatment for the dog later, but what about the rest of my home? and my children? plus my dog sleeps in my bedroom, so how i can make sure that they havent decided to live in my bed? hope someone can help me!!!

Treat the dog and spray indoors. You can get sprays to treat the house. Wash bedding etc. Make sure you spray carpet edges. You may have to do this a couple of times just to be sure. Get the spray and flea treatment from the vet.

Good luck.

Keep the dog out of fox holes :D :D

i find frontline a good flea treatment you get it from your vet and for your home i found acclaim plus is very good you can get that from your boots chemist or your vet since useing frontline i havent had any fleas and my lhasa is like your dog loves fox hole and foxes wee he roles in it and he has had many baths by doing that

No help once the fleas have arrived I'm afraid ... but to prevent future infestations try CSJ's Billy no mates supplement. I've used this for some time and the dogs have honestly never had a flea or a tick ... and it's herbal so you're not putting harsh chemicals on to your dog.

Indorex household spray is excellent to treat your home with. Its important to hoover lots too as nothing on the market (prescription or otherwise) will kill larvae or eggs :- ( We supply Indorex to some councils to treat their tenanted hoses with!!

Aswell as frontline, you can also look at advantage which is good as well. If you need any advice then get in touch x

for future reference, feeding garlic, or adding garlic pearls to a dog's dinner puts fleas of inhabiting them in the first place

Vacuuming and steaming the environment, and frontlining the dog should do the trick
