I would just like to put peoples minds at rest as i live in Tewkesbury and the emergancy services are second to none they are working round the clock and they are checking on the elderly and infirm every hour we have three sea king hellicopters going round the people that are trapped in their homes and believe me their are a few of them.

We have just run out of water and they say the power will be next so the best thing to do is stay in bed :D

Hi Roy, glad you are coping. My friend lives in Tuffley in Gloucester, and they have no water or power, and she is all electric at home, so no way of even boiling a kettle :(

She has a caravan in storage, so has left home to see if she can at least have a cuppa there.

Just heard on the news that the river Severn is about to burst its banks, and worse is yet to come.

:luck: Good luck to all people affected by this. We have problems in Hereford, but I think the worst is over here.

:( we are in reading

and we have been put on full alert, our street is listed as a danger area

we have been contacted yesterday by the enviroment agency saying we should arrange a place of safety for ourselves and our pets  :(

today we are trying to move everything up high so as to save some of our stuff if the s**t hits the fan.....so if i go off line tomorrow, thats why  :( :( :(

 I feel so sorry for all of you out there in the flood hit areas :( It must be very worrying. My thoughts are with you, keep yourselves safe.... :luck: :luck:

Tina

Really thinking of everyone who is suffering with the floods...keep safe :luck: :luck: :luck:

I spent the weekend stranded in Herefordshire. I'd been working in Hereford during the day and set off home to Brum at about 2.30. I got about 15 miles towards Worcester before the floods were too severe to continue. By this time, those which had just been passable behind me were too deep to go back.........................luckily I was just passed the village where my colleague lives and I was able to stay at hers. She lives about a mile out of the village itself and the only way we could reach her house was by thumbing a lift on a tractor!

And there I stayed til Sunday

I was frantic til I managed to get hold of a friend with a key to go collect my dogs - boy were they glad to see me yesterday

Thanks Roy. Glad that you are okay.

Seems now that they are saying that the water is going to be off for between 7-14 days (most likely the latter).

Lydia's (some of you will remember her :) ) parents live near the Gloucester track at Churchdown. They have had no electricity or water since yesterday. Her dad is in very poor health and was stuck at Gloucester Royal hospital on Friday after his dialysis but is now home. There is a bowser near their home where Lyd's mum is getting the water from.

Lyd's home near Winchcombe was very nearly flooded on Friday but fortunately it only flooded her garden and came within an inch of the top of her step into the house. Her neighbours weren't so lucky and most of them were flooded.

Sorry to read all of this - best of luck to everyone who has been affected - lets hope the water clears and life can go back to normal soon :luck:
