Very sensible boy!

It really does. It’s made me so anxious and frustrated. However, now he’s decided he doesn’t want to eat the pasta and broccoli just the sausages ​

Did you try covering them with gravy? Even brussels will go down well with lashings of the brown gold

I just don’t get it. We finally find something he’ll eat and then after a few meals he just goes off of it.

Same here with Lily, she loved her scrambled eggs but tried yesterday and wouldn’t touch them had roast lamb yesterday and was quite happy with that not daft is she guess it’s trial and error with Den is his tummy still upset or has it calmed down now?

Ooo...damn...and now by the sound of it, there might not be no logical explanation for his eating habit but it is purely down to trial and error what goes down to that particularly day.

I was thinking exactly the same Kara, things I used to like don’t agree with me now , I can honestly say that if someone asked me what my favourite food was there’s nothing that would make me excited , Hubby is the same too, both in our sixties now and was fine regarding food a few years ago....could well be the same with our dogs .

I don't know if dogs can be like rats, in that they'll try a little of something and if it disagrees with them, they won't eat it again - if every time Dennis tries a new food he gets a sore tummy, he may not decide to eat that food again. Are there any more tests the vet can do?

In the meantime I'd 'accidentally' leave food hanging around, and also up his opportunities for largeish healthy treats/rewards so they make a reasonable proportion of what he needs to eat.

Has he lost much weight?

He’s booked in to have biopsies taken tomorrow :-(

He’s lost more weight. He’s at 30kg now and in August he was 38kg.

Very worrying but I hope they can finally find the issue

We’ve tried everything you can imagine regarding food and he either eats it happily for a couple of days and then just stops for no known reason (hasn’t been sick) and now he won’t eat at all.

Oh bless him, that’s a fair bit of weight to lose , hoping the bios will find the problem. Is he still keen to go out for his walks?

He’s been happy in himself and wanting to go for walks. He even went swimming in the sea at new year. He even really wants to eat but something is stopping him put it in his mouth

Good that he’s feeling ok in himself but the eating thing is very odd , you’d think if he wasn’t eating hardly anything he wouldn’t have the energy for swimming and walks. Very baffling assuming his mouth,teeth and throat have been checked ? Really feel for you Josie xx

He’s had to stay in overnight @Mayblossom - the vet said it was more complicated than he had imagined because Den is deep chested and I think him not being in peak condition it’s hit him harder.

I’d rather he be there where they can give him pain relief etc just hoping they can pump him full of some goodness.

He said they didn’t see anything abnormal so now I feel like we’ve done the wrong thing putting him through this. Although they’ve taken biopsies. Just want some answers now.

No, you've done the right thing - even if the results come back all clear, it was very important that you got this done to be on the safe side. Everything still crossed xx
