Being on the south coast we find it very expensive travelling

north to open's and Championship's. seaham cost's us £150plus so it will be expensive to go to Champ's, derby, and

devon three weekend's running. They should have put at least

4/6 week's between Champ,s and Derby as the Derby is the best weekend of the year for fun.No preasure for a Title, will

anyone be coming to fordingbridge south coast scr and golden

jacket weekend. Or owr weekend lot's of fun. See you at the

tyrone bend open I think im the only one from Portsmouth

coming up.

hi mark i agree with what your saying, and i would just like to say although i love whippet racing i wouldn't spend that much

on travelling its stupid, after all what do you get back from it.

if i had to pay that much to travel to open's ect i'd pack in and get a couple of greyhounds for flapping.

I also think that there are too many opens on. The regions should have a points system and dogs should be graded over say 6 months, then there should be a national event with dogs graded say into 4 or 5 grades competing against each other. The times should be taken in heats, then dogs run off in their respective classes on times. That way you would not be travelling every weekend too far and maybe as a region all helping each other and shouting each others dogs home it might create a better atmosphere. The officials could all work together and for example- weighing in,you would not be allowed to weigh in your own regions dogs,  but you would be allowed to check them, any disputes could be sorted out there and then with out any problems and the draw likewise as it should be at all events. I also think that every region should be allocated the championships in their turn and that they should be drawn out of a hat to start with and if some region can't or does not want to stage them it should be passed to the next in line. The south and scotland would have home advantage in their turn  as only one club has it now.Not all this would be possible but some things might that is why i think this site is brilliant every comment helps in some way i have already sorted a few ideas for the Lancaster club when we start racing again.

hi neil there are no flapping track's in the south of england

we travel 90 mile's round trip every week when racing is on

from portsmouth to fordingbridge. This is now are local track.

To trian for the bend's it is a two hour trip there and two hour's back to kent Luckily all the family love it so there is no choice. Stevenage Henlow Worcester are the next nearist two
