FRODO
Frodo is a 2 year old male greyhound who was not fast enough for the race track. He is a gorgeous dog with a soft blue coat and white markings on his chest and muzzle. Once his woolly kennel coat grows out, he is going to be a truly stunning blue boy, sure to attract a lot of attention with his big striking eyes.
Frodo is a nice, but quiet boy in kennels and we feel we are only scraping the surface of his lovely personality. Though not nervous, he can appear a bit withdrawn with strangers and is not pushy or demanding about asking for attention. Once he knows you, however, he has a big waggy tail and is much more forth coming with his affection. Frodo is the type of dog that needs the one-on-one attention that can only be found in a home environment, and we feel that once he gets that he is going to really flourish, allowing us to finally see his true character.
Dear Frodo has sadly spent all his life so far in racing kennels, so new owners will need to be a bit patient during the first couple of weeks and allow him time to get accustomed to the new home environment. He is well behaved with the other female greyhounds in our kennels, though can be a bit 'macho' with some of the other males. This behaviour will lesson now that he is neutered, but he might do better in a home with another female for company instead of a male. He has not yet been tested with smaller dogs or cats, but these can be carried out prior to adoption if required.
**UPDATE 08/2010**
Dear Frodo is still waiting for his forever home, and we feel he definitely needs it sooner rather than later. He is continuing to find kennel life a bit stressful and is not blossoming into the happy boy we know he can be. He is on the waiting list now to go to a foster home in the UK, but what he really needs is a home to call his own.
Frodo is currently in kennels in Ireland, and can be transported via Kerry Greyhounds to the UK or Europe if a suitable home offer comes up. This will be organised and paid for by Kerry Greyhounds, and we ask only for a donation to help cover costs. He is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, de-flea'd and wormed and a homecheck will be required as part of the adoption procedure.
If you are interested in fostering or adopting lovely Frodo, please email me on tamakin_84@yahoo.co.uk for our information pack and adoption questionnaire. Thanks!
~~ KERRY GREYHOUND CONNECTION ~~
Kerry Greyhound Connection is a small voluntary organisation based in County Kerry, Ireland and Norfolk, England and operates through a network of volunteers. We can look after approximately 70 greyhounds at any one time, in both Ireland and the UK.
Each dog is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and given a full veterinary check before being adopted.
We assess the suitability of all home offers, and we have homed greyhounds in Ireland, the UK, Europe and the USA. We work hard to match the right hound to the right home, and a homecheck will be required as part of the adoption procedure.
We can be contacted via PM or through any of the following:
