We are thinking of Getting a second retired greyhound to keep our 6 year old company.

What are people's experience/advice on this - do they get on, do they like living together, are they bothered?

Any help would be appreciated.

Sorry I haven't got any advice I only have whippets, but good for you for wanting to give a lovely greyhound a home and welcome to K9

Providing you get a good match character wise for your existing greyhound, then in my experience there won't be any bother. My two get on really well and they've taken to the newest whippets really well too - once they got past the really bothersome puppy stage! Find a greyhound rescue that really cares about where their dogs are going (there are plenty out there) and take their advice on what/who would best suit your family. :)

Go for it, they love the company and it's someone to play with, cuddle up to etc!

Great idea! :)

go for it... they love to cuddle up and play... if you have a male i'd suggest you should get a girl... when boarded in greyhound kennels they will only put male to female.... two girls are ok but not two boys as competition sets in...

i have two girls and two boys at home, mine have coupled off themselves... they love the company of each other.... they are truely wonderful dogs.... when your ready to look at another bring the 1 you have to meet him/her...

wish you all the best of luck with any future adoptions.

I've got two boys and they are inseperable, the are kenneled together (at a greyhound rescue centre and kennels) if I go away with no problems. Max is definitely the boss of the pair though!

Greyhounds love company, just like whippets. They say to keep male and female but ive never experienced any problems as Skippy and Foxy are together, but they are sisters.

Let us know what you decide and post a pic of your newcomer, should you decide to rehome another
