Im going to book my lads into the vet next week of jabs,,anal glands done,,to messy for me and smelly,,and I want them done,,neutered. John says no money,,but the doggy fund has loads in it,,,Is it a boy thing,,I dont want to use Robbie at stud again,,he got enough pups doing well for him,,a few champs too,,Gizmo has not sired any yet,,yes I do have a few who want to use him at stud,,but I think its better if both were done. Robbie is top over Gizmo,,but Gizzy is now saying no Im the man,,,I think it would help my dog familty if both were done,,or do I leave Robbie full as hes still top over Gizmo and just Gizmo gets done,,they going into kennels in the summer,,was going to book 2 as scared they would fight if I was not there,,Im top in the house,,and there all the time,,if not gizmo is in the diningroom and rob the livingroom,,the few times I forgot to seperate them,,they were both at the livingroom window waiting for me,,all ok

Johns off next week so might book them in for the week after,,I own both dogs,,so I get the final say,,just want the best for them,,

Robbie is not bothered with bithes in season, close to us,,his temp is more loving now,,used to be a wee shit,,in his younger days,,he was the man,,till mum told him he was not,,so he wont go looking for girls if done,,he never leaves my side,Gizmo never had the nice side his dad had,,so wont miss it,,,Do I get both done or just 1,,I know my vet will say do both,,money for him,,but would like some advice from folk who have been in the same position as me

AS a owner of both sexes let me just say having either or any done now will make no differance to their temperament , If you had had them done before they matured then they could have changed , but as they are both `proper adults` they will be just the same only without the `bits `

I had one dog done as he really wound himself up when bitches came in , this hasnt changed ,( unfortuanatley ) hes not as bad ,but is still ready to mate them should he be given the chance . His dad is top dog( apart from me ) and always will be and he respects that

If you have a `top dog ` that wont change even if they are both done IMO

TBH I dont think putting them in spearate rooms at home helps , I know if Ive taken one male out and not the other , they sometimes have a grumble when they first meet again . so separation seems to unsettle them

Of course this is just my opinion and how my dogs are .

When I mentioned to my vet that the dog hadnt stopped winging and whinning when a bitch in season , she just said ,` oh that can happen.`

If Id known that I probably wouldnt have had him done at all

After a lot of pm's,,phone calls and posts here I decided not to nuture the boys,,they seen the vet a few days ago,,,Robbie got his jab and kennel cough,,and health check and nails done,,he was good for the vet,,he screams the place down when I do his nails,,Gizmo with his anal glands,,they were cleaned out,,the left was very full,,he on tablets for that,,got his jab,,cant get the kennel cough for 2 weeks,,both a lot over their racing weights,,Robbie is 20 lbs and Gizmo is 26lbs,,they both back in 2 weeks for 2nd jabs and Gizmo gets the kennel cough too,,the bill for last time at the vets was just over £100,,so no idea what it will cost in 2 weeks,,,still have quite a few £100 in the doggy fund,,so its covered,,we put money away each week for the dogs,,its used for vet or dog stuff,,like coats,,beds,,not food or the chew bones they love. Thanks to all who gave me advice,,I think they will both stay entire unless the vets says different,,Robbie never leaves my side,,on the sofa all the time,,Gizmo likes to be under his snuggle bed in the diningroom,,so will do the same ,,seperate them if Im not there,,,,they know where they to go and happy,,the odd time I forget they been fine,,if its not broken it dont need fixed,,thanks again to all who replyed,,as I was going to do both the lads. Thinking I was stopping any top dog thing,,but know different now,,save me a lot of money and pain for the boys,,Gizmo is now being a normal dog,,not looking at his bum,,and Robbie not tapping his bum with his nose,,we think they look out for each other. dogs know what the other dog needs,,they might be closer than I think lol
