Im going to book my lads into the vet next week of jabs,,anal glands done,,to messy for me and smelly,,and I want them done,,neutered. John says no money,,but the doggy fund has loads in it,,,Is it a boy thing,,I dont want to use Robbie at stud again,,he got enough pups doing well for him,,a few champs too,,Gizmo has not sired any yet,,yes I do have a few who want to use him at stud,,but I think its better if both were done. Robbie is top over Gizmo,,but Gizzy is now saying no Im the man,,,I think it would help my dog familty if both were done,,or do I leave Robbie full as hes still top over Gizmo and just Gizmo gets done,,they going into kennels in the summer,,was going to book 2 as scared they would fight if I was not there,,Im top in the house,,and there all the time,,if not gizmo is in the diningroom and rob the livingroom,,the few times I forgot to seperate them,,they were both at the livingroom window waiting for me,,all ok

Johns off next week so might book them in for the week after,,I own both dogs,,so I get the final say,,just want the best for them,,

Robbie is not bothered with bithes in season, close to us,,his temp is more loving now,,used to be a wee shit,,in his younger days,,he was the man,,till mum told him he was not,,so he wont go looking for girls if done,,he never leaves my side,Gizmo never had the nice side his dad had,,so wont miss it,,,Do I get both done or just 1,,I know my vet will say do both,,money for him,,but would like some advice from folk who have been in the same position as me

I have found that neutering has not really changed Toddy,s personatity at all.

Would suggest that if Robbie is Top dog, loving and does not bother too much about bitches, that you have the younger dog done and leave Robbie entire. That way, hopefully he will remain the dominant one. It can take a few months for the hormones to settle down. If you have a recurring problem with anal glands these can be fixed surgically and could probably be done at the same time as the neutering.

If things do not settle down, you could always have Robbie neutered at a later date.

Hope this helps a bit
