Ever since I was kid and my mum worked at Romford dog track I've been into racing dogs. Happily I'm in the position now to own a whippet, so firstly can anyone help me find a puppy from a racing background. Secondly, whats the difference between non-ped and ped racing? And, lastly does anyone know about the racing that is 10 mins walking distance from me at Thurrock?

Kind Regards to all,

RealMadYid

(I'm sure someone can relate to the handle)

Realmadyid, you have a good club that runs near to you at Thurrock, If you contact Sheila Webb on 01268 554315 she will give you all the details of the South East Whippet Club. They have some very good members who will be helpful to you in getting a racing whippet and will be very helpful to you in all aspects of the whippet racing sport, hope that you will be racing soon.

Thanks mate, I spoke to Sheila on Monday, she is going to have a look round for me. I missed her and the whippets on Sunday at the Thurrock sports day as I was clearing my garden and making sure it was secure to let a dog out there. And, it was #### hot, filled up a skip...

I firstly was just looking for a pet, but thought well they like running, I've got a club on my doorstep, with the benefits of the members knowing more about the breed than me, I wouldn't mind giving it go...

Thanks,

RealMadYid (Paul)

Good luck in finding a dog :) . sheila and the gang are really nice people and will make you feel welcome at the club.

we may be biased but whippets are excellent pets and you also have the benefit of racing them...we race at our local club on a wed night (in manchester) the dogs have a couple of runs and then we all sit around having a few beers and a chat(and the dogs have crisps :p ) which is what it's all about, having fun and meeting people.

Hi Paul  Its  me  again.  WELLCOME  to  the  world  of  whippet  racing.  Im  sure  you  will  enjoy  it.  We  all  look  forward  to  meeting  you. :)

Thanks to you all...getting the dog out for a race, both of you enjoying yourself...having a couple of pints...mmm...I'm glad I've given me Premiership season ticket up...At least a dog doesn't take you for for an idiot...well, I did I have a Bassett so I might retract that :- )

Just to add...any good puppies from a racing background in and around Essex, I'm certainly interested.

Thanks all
