We had racing followed by the AGM yesterday. The racing consisted of pairs running off for points. The winners were the pairing of Cheap Thrills and Conway Gem, who I think both won all their races in the three rounds. After racing we retired to the Regency Hotel in Cheltenham for AGM, discussion and the revealing of the top dogs of 2008.

TOP DOG

Cheap Thrills (Owned by Louise and Simon Simmons) Hope I've spelt it right Lou  Moz has run so well this year

TOP BITCH

Conway Gem Owned by Dave and Lynne Thomas - This is the second year running that Amber has won the top bitch at the club. I'm sure she is trying to fill a huge gap left in the Thomas household this year - well done Amber

Sorry this is last years photo - I'm not sure if anyone took photos yesterday. It was so cold, and also dark by the time we left. If any members have taken photos of their dogs in the velvet coats, please email them to me, and I will add them here.

TOP YEARLING

Fly the Wind Owned by Geoff Cook

What a fantastic start Sam has had to his racing career - next year should be even better for him as he matures

TOP VETERAN

XcaliberOwned by Lesley and India Harris

Sorry I don't have a pic :(

TOP SCURRY (Consolation)

Duncton Crusader Owned by Rob Hughes and Darcia Gingell. Poor Tyler had an injury to one of his nails today, hope he is better soon Darc and Rob :huggles:

as going to add a picture here, but not enough space in this post, so it will follow later

DOG OF THE YEAR

Thanks for the write up June :sweating: , I am really glad you volunteered for press officer this year. We would have had to use a flash for those photos after our marathon AGM. Well done to the winners of the jackets, well deserved by all and beautiful jackets as always Jane.

I hope every-one has a wonderful Christmas and look forward to seeing you all in the Spring.

Thank you to everyone at Gloucester club, we have had a lovely year and I've enjoyed nearly every minute of it  Mozzie getting a beautiful velvet jacket was the icing on the cake for us :D Well done to all the other winners of jackets

Spudice beat Moz in the last race credit where its due, well done Spud

Merry Christmas to you all, hope you all have a good one

See you next year

'Twas a true marathon (now known as a Snicker). We just have alot of members with strong opinions who, in the most part were give time to 'vent their emotions'.

Perhaps a thought for next year is that we do away with racing on the day of the AGM and just meet for the lunch and business of the day. This way members who nolonger relish night driving would not be put off attending or be pressured to leave early.

I am aware that some members felt some of the final points were hurried over but I was being pressurised to 'wind-up' proceedings. Sorry to those who felt put out but we will try to take their points forward in the new racing season. The AGM need not be the only forum for discussion, or decisions for the good of the smooth running of racing.

 well done to everyone, and the peppermints will invade on glos in 2009  one of my favorite clubs :huggles:

Here here, the pub is a marvelous venue for discussion of any points :teehee: :teehee: :teehee:

You're welcome to invade us any day Julie :huggles:

Two things I forgot to mention. Well done Axl on passing his clearing trials. He's still a baby, but the whole litter seem to be coming on great.

A special mention must go to Daisy (Blythe Spirit) she has run with every puppy at the club this year, and has been invaluable as a puppy trainer. After the attack on her by another dog whilst out, Lou didn't know whether she would get her confidence back, and whether she would still view other dogs with her lovely friendly outgoing nature. I'm glad to say that Daisy doesn't seem to have changed in the slightest - she still loves all the other dogs, and so we say a big thank you from all the pups, and special thanks from her little mate Smidge :huggles: Cheers Lou  and Merry Xmas to all - see you next year

Well done to Moz, Amber, Sam, Ozzie & Tyler on winning the top spots this year  and I second June's comment about Daisy. Thanks Lou for providing two really great club dogs again this year :huggles:

Well done to Axl on passing his clearing trials so easily :huggles: Thats 1 down..... 4 to go :D

I would like to thank Gloucester Club for the wonderful bouquet of flowers given to me at the AGM. I have been treasurer for the past eight years and am glad to say that Jo has volunteered to take this post over from me.

And a very good one you've been too Jane :huggles:

Big thanks to Lesley and everyone on the committee and that run at Gloucester for a good years club racing, we have enjoyed ourselves and I know that the boys have really enjoyed it too

We were delighted that Tyler won top scurry this year, it came as a total suprise to us, as you all know racing isnt just about the dogs that go out and win championships and opens its about all the dogs that make up the races and trial with puppies aswell, Tyler is just one of those that make up the numbers, I think he has only ever made two maiden finals, but that doesnt stop us loving him to pieces! It is great that the club recognise his cateogory of dog. Im sorry that I was in such a state after his accident on sunday, I was so worried about him, thanks to everyone that helped and in particular to Elaine who did a very good job in bandaging up his foot. He had a small operation yesterday to remove the rest of the nail and despite still being on 3 legs today he is much happier and back to his usual self

Congratulations to Moz, Amber, Sam, Ozzie and their owners for being the top club dogs this year with a special thanks to everyone else for providing the competition and most importantly in helping us out with trials this year, Daisy has been mentioned lots & we would like to say a big thanks too along with dogs like Nibbs & Mouse who have also been fantastic. We have also had lots more offers that we havent needed to take up but we have appreciated all the same.

Oh & Lesley, having racing before the AGM made the day! Having a fun pairs meeting and being able to cheer on our racing partners was brilliant, it would be a terrible shame to cut that out, if anything surely it would be a good idea to just start a bit earlier on AGM day?

Oh & that reminds me (I'll shut up soon I promise!), Chyppe has a special thanks to make to his racing partner Carrie for being brilliant and getting them into 3rd place on sunday :D He says where are the full results just when he finally gets into the top 3? LoL

Look forward to seeing everyone in the new year, shame it seems so far away at the moment!

What a lovely post Darcia, in fact every-one seems to have nice things to say about our club. For our part, Gloucester has been the most friendly and supportive club to belong to. We have made friends who will be friends for life and any-one who comes to our club is guaranteed a warm welcome and support. I feel blessed it is on our doorstep.

Glad Tyler is on the mend Darcia and Rob, even though we weren't there at racing, I winced. Nails make my tummy go squeaky

Well, as there was not enough space to add pics to the original post, here is Duncton Crusader in his velvet jacket - Top Scurry winner.

Darc apologises for the background here - Tyler was nursing a bad paw, and she didn't want to mess him about too much. The good news is that he is doing well
