GRACE

Grace is a 2 year old greyhound girl who was not fast enough for the race track. She is a beautiful chunky girl with a white coat and fawn patches. She also has beautiful big eyes that are very hard to resist!

Grace is a shy little girl and needs a bit of a confidence boost. She is more wary of men than women, but once she knows you her lovely little personality shines through. She is a sweet, lovable dog who is itching to come out of herself and play and romp with the other greyhounds. We feel that once she is in a loving home where she can get one on one attention, she's going to come on in leaps and bounds.

Grace has not yet been in a home before, so new owners will need to be a bit understanding during the first couple of weeks and allow her time to settle and adjust to the new house rules. It usually takes 10-14 days for new greyhounds to start to settle down in a home, and really all they need is a bit of time and patience.

Pretty Gracie gets on well with the other greyhounds in our kennels, and we feel she would improve that bit faster if she could go to a home with a confident resident dog who could help her along. She has not been tested with small dogs or cats yet but these can be carried out prior to adoption if required.

Like most greyhounds, Grace will not need a huge amount of exercise. She will be content with two 20min walks a day and perhaps a chance to stretch her legs offlead in a secure area once or twice a week.

In general greyhounds are calm, mannerly dogs that are well used to being handled. They can fit very well in to a wide range of different lifestyles and usually adjust to the home life very quickly. Their soft, easy going nature often makes them ideal to live in a family with children, while their love of lazing around and low exercise requirements can make them perfect for the elderly. Greyhounds also don’t shed as much as other more popular dog breeds and this can make them suitable to live with allergy sufferers.

**UPDATE 08/2010**

Little Grace is still with us, waiting for her forever home. She has become a bit less shy now that she is familiar with the routine at the kennels, but really what she needs is the one-on-one attention of a home environment to properly come out of herself. She will be a delight for whomever decides to adopt her and is sure to give back tenfold what she gets.

This gorgeous girl is currently being kenneled in Ireland, and can be transported via Kerry Greyhounds to the UK or Europe if a suitable home offer comes up. This will be organised and paid for by Kerry Greyhounds, and we ask only for a donation to help cover costs. She is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped and a homecheck will be required as part of the adoption procedure.

If you are interested in fostering or adopting Grace, please email me on tamakin_84@yahoo.co.uk for our information pack and adoption questionnaire which must be filled out prior to adoption. Thanks!
