GRACE

**UPDATED: AUGUST 2012**

Grace is a gorgeous whippet x grey girl who is now 2 years old. She has a beautiful fawn coat, a dainty, elegant build and a very very pretty face. Grace was picked up as a stray in Ireland in a very sad state with some bad injuries. It is now several months later, however, and she is the picture of health. The only lingering signs of her hard start to life are a few scars and an old broken toe that has healed at a slight angle, but poses her no problems at all. She is now ready and waiting for a loving home to call her own.

~ Personality ~

Grace definitely suits her name; she is beautiful and truly graceful in both movement and character. Grace is a very affectionate, loving girl who is calm and balanced in herself. She has no issues or vices to speak of, and really is just a perfect girl waiting for a home. What you see is what you get with this dog, and it took us all of 30 seconds to fall completely in love with her! We hope she isn’t waiting too long for her forever home.

~ In the Home ~

Grace has not been in a home environment before, so new owners will need to be a bit patient during the first couple of weeks and allow her time to settle in. She is very clean in her kennel and waits to be let outside to toilet, so we don’t expect house training to be a big issue. Grace is very much the typical lurcher – has her mad moments of energetic zooming around, then wants to find somewhere warm to curl up and snooze in. She is so placid and such a cuddler, we know that once she discovers the comforts of a duvet or sofa, the hardest part is going to be getting her up in the mornings!

~ Other Animals ~

Grace is excellent with other dogs. She is polite and calm in meeting new canine friends, and truly loves a good romp with them. She is social and savvy in all things dog, so we expect she would slot brilliantly into an existing pack, or perhaps be that perfect playmate for a currently lonely dog. She has not been cat tested yet but this will be carried out shortly.

~ Out and About ~

Grace walks excellently on the lead, you tend to forget she’s there! Like many lurchers, Grace will not need a huge amount of exercise. She will be content with two 30min walks a day and a chance for offlead zooming a couple times a week in a secure area. Once she has bonded with her owners and a bit of work is put in, she has the potential to have great recall and could be let offlead provided there are no roads nearby. This darling girl also travels well in the car, is not fazed by busy places, and is just a pure joy to take anywhere.

~ Where Am I? ~

Grace is currently being kennelled in Norfolk, UK. She can be homed anywhere in the UK, but please note that you will be required to travel to us in Norfolk to meet her.

~ Want To Adopt Me? ~

Grace is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, de-flea'd and wormed and a homecheck will be required as part of the adoption procedure. This girl would greatly benefit from being in a foster home, and Kerry Greyhounds UK is always in desperate need of new fosterers. It is such a rewarding experience, and costs are covered by the rescue.

If you are interested in adopting or fostering Grace, please visit either our website’s Adoption Page: http://s300889640.websitehome.co.uk/uk/adoption.html or Fostering Page: http://s300889640.websitehome.co.uk/uk/Fostering.html for information and instructions on our homing & fostering procedures. If you have any further questions or problems, please feel free to email me (Tam) on tamakin_84@yahoo.co.uk. Emails are usually replied to within 24 hrs. Thanks!

~~ KERRY GREYHOUNDS UK ~~

Kerry Greyhounds UK is a small voluntary organisation that is based in Norfolk, England. It focuses on rehoming unwanted Irish greyhounds and lurchers, as huge numbers are bred in Ireland each year and homes are few and far between. KGUK operates through a network of volunteers spaced over Ireland and the UK. We can look after approximately 30 dogs at any one time in both kennels and foster homes.

Each dog is neutered, vaccinated, & microchipped before being adopted (unless stated otherwise).

We assess the suitability of all home offers, and we have homed greyhounds in all corners of the UK.

Our Website: http://www.kerrygreyhounds.co.uk

If interested in one of our hounds, please visit our website’s Adoption Page for information and instructions on our homing procedures. Once you have filled in and returned the application form, we will then contact you via phone or email to discuss adopting one of our hounds in more detail.

If you have any further questions, don’t hesitate to contact us. I (Tam) can be contacted through the following email:

Email: tamakin_84@yahoo.co.uk

Emails are usually replied to within 24hrs.

Thank you.

If I'm not mistaken, Grace was waiting months in Ireland for someone to adopt her. I trust she will fare better in GB.
