can anyone give me any info about grass seeds in the nail bed?a lady i chat to on another site has a westy with one in its nail bed.shes going to have to take him to the vets which means hes going to need anaesthetic and shes worried to death.any advice or help appreciated, ive never had any probs with them so dont know what to advise.she says shes tried a bread poultice to draw it out but the dog pulled it off straight away.i was wondering if alum would do the same as i used to use it for interdigital cysts,to draw them out and get all the pus out. :)

I have used the homeopathic remedy Silica to draw out grass seeds from My Springer's foot with great success. Available from Dorwest herbs or Ainsworths

Kaolin poultice from chemists might help. Warm the tub in a pan of hot water and apply a blob. If it's high up and causing infection though then surgical removal may be the best port of call.

thanks everyone for the help and advice.i think by the sounds of it she may have to have to bite the bullet and have it removed surgically, ill pass on your advice and let you know what happens. :)
