What a great weekend in Scotland and the North. Julia myself and the dogs got up to Scotland about 6 oclock sat teatime, agreat drive up, the weather getting better the further north we went. Mandy kindly went round collecting fish supper orders, by the time the kettle had boiled she was back with our tea, very nice to. We had a good night sleep but could not get over the fact that it stayed light till after 11 oclock. Sunday dawned clear and warm, and it was not long before everyone was getting dogs ready for the weigh in,I liked the digital platform scales. It was a good entry considering the distance everyone had to travel. It was nice to see the lightweight and heavyweight groups with plenty of entries, 12 dogs in the lights and 9 dogs in the heavies. the middle groups and vet groups didnt have quite so many but there was plenty of quality throughout all the groups. The racing was good, our Oscar ran blisteringly fast heats and semi, Julia reckons he won his heat by 8/9 yards, the semi was a bit different as he was against old rival, but still very fast blue and white dynamite, Gazza just got the break, but Oscar soon gotW to him and won by a length on the line. My only moan ,about the meet was that dam red box, it played up all day, sometimes not opening at all, meaning reruns, or when it did open it was slower than the other 3. Yes now on to the finals, and you have guessed it, Oscar had the red box, Gazza and the other two must have took 2 yards out of Oscar and he did pull back the other 2, but could not peg back Gazza, well done everyone, it was nice to see young guns Willsdon star , and Shropshire jockey having a blow out, ones to watch next year. Well done Jane winning the supreme with Quiver, and I think everyone thought the winners jackets were great. The weather was great, the track is one of best in racing.----WELL DONE YOU JOCKS see you soon. We left the track at 6 oclock and instead of ripping down motorway home, we went down as far as Carlisle and spent the night by Hadrians Wall, had a good night we were all done in. In the morning after breakfast we went down motorway to Penrith; then went in to the Lake district, the weather was fantastic the scenery even better, we drove alongside Ullswater lake,, fantastic, then made our way to Windermere, then back to Kendal onto the motorway and 4 hours home, we got back just after 4 oclock , we did just over 700 miles round trip, the van was brill doing just over 41 mpg. Hope your feeling a bit better Norman.
