Took all four dogs out for their usual run today but two of them ended up in the vets, Magpie and Leia both girls were bitten in the face by an adder and are both on drips at the vets. (can't tell you how worried i am) the vets didn't have any anti venom, but they rang around and another vet had some, not that the price bothers us but just for those who's dogs might get bitten it's about £100 per vaccine. Magpie looks like some one as forced to tennis balls in her mouth, (poor girl) and Leia doesn't look much better. :( Wont know much more until tomorrow, so a word of warning to everyone adders are out even when it's cold and wet. Di

 Thanks Russ the first thing I thought about was your poor little Chase who lost his life recently from an adder bite, will keep you all posted. Di

Poor Gabbitas31 you certainly have had hard luck today. Adders is somthing we never think of over here, but I am sure they are out there somewhere. You are in our thoughts at this time in your life. I know how much you care for your dogs, like ouselves they are part of the family life. I think your Leagh is a sister of our Miss Amber ( Roses Breeding ) I hope your beautiful dogs pull through, the vaccines are very good these days. There is a lesson/warning for all of us there.

I'm so sorry to hear this :( hope they make a speedy recovery :luck: :luck: Julie and Chris

I'm very sorry to hear this has happened to your two lovely girls, Di :(

Keeping my fingers crossed for them both :luck: ...... like you, I would never expect adders to be lurking in the weather we've had recently

If you got them straight and had treatment they will recover. One of my whippets got struck and nearly died, she recovered thankfully, no lasting harm done and she live to be 15. Keep you chins up.

lol

It happened at Parc Shady, nr Mount Hawk.
