but can feel a small lump in his neck close to where he had it done,is this normal??

thks Gary

Totally normal. I'd be worried if you COULDN'T feel it! It should sit just under the skin in between the shoulder blades but does have a tendency to travel.

Welcome to Dog Forum... I can feel all my pets microchips - its weird isn't it?

Piccies of your dog please! :)

I can't feel Oreo's chip!!?!?

I've never actually seen her be scanned I was only ever given her microchip number!

Might mention it to the vets the next time I take Oreo!

Micro chips can tend to migrate a little from where they were originally implated.

Just ask the vet about it next time you are there. They should have a scanner they just wave over the dog which will bleep when its found (the scanner will bleep, not your dog)

I cannot feel either of my dogs microchips, but I know they are there as I check them regularly, dont worry if you cannot feel them or if you can, depends on the dog, skin, coat, where it was placed etc

Whether you can feel them from the outside depends on exactly where they are, the thickness of the fur at that point, the build of the animal and all sorts of other factors.

You may also not be able to feel it due to the amount of scar tissue surrounding it.
