I've heard Camrosa is really good stuff but I guess it would depend on the reason for the hair loss. Let us know if it works, if you decide to use it.

camrosa is good, but again depends why he has hair loss? it is very expensive and i have heard mixed reports.

on the horses (and Colt is the size of a horse) we use cornucresine, its actually used to accelerate hoof growth (works great on finger nails too!) but its an age old trick to apply to old scabs etc to stimulate the hair folicles to grow back quicker and it really works too.

A lot of track dogs get it due to feeding too much protein in there diet.

is your dog on high protein food?

It's a bit more complex than that and it's felt to be more likely to be related to hypothyroidism or hyperadrenocorticism. See this link from NGRC website http://www.ngrc.org.uk/thyroid_function.asp?cat=11&page=265

In my own experience, dogs having 'too much' protein tend to suffer from skin reactions due to their skin going OTT with the excess protein but of course hair loss could be associated through these skin reactions because of the irritation they can cause. As Colts actively being raced at the moment I would doubt very much that this is dietary related as it would more likely present itself when he was in a rested state. Not only that but I don't think it is BTS (Bald Thigh Syndrome) either as it's not bilateral at this moment in time.

You got any photos John?

Bob Grass ointment - it grows hair on bricks!!!! My greyhound cross was bald till I used this, fab stuff - cheap too!Excellent next day service can't recommend it highly enough

Regards,Morganna :sorcerer:

a hundred years ago when I worked at the dog track we used Benz Benzoate ?

Someone I know thinks the greyhounds he sees on sky etc have got bald bums cos they are left to lay on pee`d wet bedding and floors  as we know some of these dogs are worth £0,000.00 of pounds . Hardly likly then is it ;)

My friends have just turned down £40,000.00 for one of their pups of 18 months . and what does it do in its next race ? breaks it s hock (w00t) :( . They are hoping the vet ( whose is Buffees vet too ) can get him right :luck:

Kelp/sea weed powder  ......... I have 2 hypothyroid dogs and one who just had a bald bum ........Kelp added to their daily diet does the job  ......

About three million years ago, when I was doing a lot of showing with ponies, we used pure coconut oil.

8) Get some in its solid form, soften it and rub into the bald areas and I bet you will see an improvement. Many people say tho, that anything could be massaged into the bald bits and that its the follicular stimulation that causes the accelerated hair growth, rather than the product one uses.

Have a think tho Stormster ....................what is it YOU use in vast quantities on YOUR skin throughout the summer ?? ...............................and do your neighbours call you Hirsute Humphreys or not???? (w00t)

We have had years of experience with racing greyhounds and the baldness is not unusual.

Yes dogs lying on dirty beds can be a cause as I expect some other reasons also but our dogs were kept spotlessly clean on lovely deep soft paper beds yet we still had some get bald thighs, our vet said its stress related as the dogs get to peak fitness on a high protein diet its when it happens.

I just used to rub baby oil into the patches to keep the hair follicles soft to premote new hair growth.

I must also say I do believe the stress reason as bitches on a rest period due to comming in season always regrew the hair.

Hope this helps

Im cant remember any of my racing greyhounds having bald bums , perhaps they were too laid back about racing to get stressed :- "

I wonder if any of these hair remedys would work on my OH head :- "
