Just wondering what folks think.

i am a concerned on how hard the tracks are. We havnt had a lot of hot weather yet the tracks are rock hard due to lack of rain.(VERY LITTLE FORCAST FOR THE NEXT 2 WEEKS)

should we not be thinking about watering on a evening prior to opens.

the price could be put onto entry fee.

a lot cheaper than your dog been off for weeks with split stoppers, which take an age to heal if you have a dog that goes hard onto the lure as most do.

another way of giving some CUSHION leave the grass 2 TO 3 inch long, this also would retain any moisture.

(Before i get shot down )I am not getting at any tracks as is problem will be country wide and i think we need to look after our dogs in making running surface as good as possible.

must admit old hall, rising sun seem to retain moisture and have good surfaces, must be due to the ground conditions.

Suppose anything to keep our dogs safe dave , our track at gin pit keeps water also not often ours rock hard

The rising sun has no drainage david :D fab track when it's dry....................a swimming pool when it's wet !! :p

A fine idea but not always easy, problems do arise at some tracks too, if water is not readily available, and also whatever work needs to be done someone has to do it and its not always easy when working and such to find extra time to go and water a field, some clubs struggle enough to get workers to actually run them week in and week out and there is a tendency for work to fall on the same people and if extra needs doing then again it is usually those same people who do that too... that sounds very much like a moan its not meant to be and if tracks can be watered regularly when the weather is dry thats brill but not always as easy as it sounds :)

Thankyou said all I would have said.

post in wrong topic ...

When we need water at swallowsnest, Linda and Alan arranged for a local farmer to bring a few loads of water , also know Chris had this method at hand for blidworth also if needed, it cost us £50 a bowser at swallowsnest and all members racing made donations ... that covered the cost of 3 or 4 ...might be worth thinking of

As the BWRA north east and rising sun will be using the track sharon I think it's only fair that we should take some responsibility too...............me and rob are happy to help out with whatever we can, I'm sure there will be others who will offere their help, after all you are doing us a big favour :D tell the committee to let us know what we can do
