Answers and explanations

Puzzle 1

Snickers and snickersnee. :clown:  :clown:

Puzzle 2

Camelot - King Aurthur's round table

Camel - animal and cigarette brand

Puzzle 3

philharmonic. The person alluded to was Phil Hartman, one of the greatest comedians of all time. :clown:

Puzzle 4

komodo. The other creatures are mythological, or are named after a creature from mythology.

Puzzle 5

Answer: The Theory of Relativity. Hints being family for 'relative' in relativity, physics, Einstein, laws (a theory is a step below a law in "concreteness," if you will).

Puzzle 6

phreatic, not 'free attic'

Puzzle 7

'In the Lurch'. Per Dictionary.com, lurch is 'the losing position of a cribbage player who scores 30 points or less to the winner's 61.' '30 points or less' is wrapped around Gomez, Morticia, Fester, and Pugsley; those names appear 'in the lurch' since lurch is in part on both sides of them. A hint that lurch/Lurch might be in the saying was that Lurch was one of the few Addams Family names that did not appear in the puzzle.

Puzzle 8

I had intended the three movie titles of "Ocean's Eleven," "Attack of the Clones," and "Lord of the Rings." Yes, the phone company/rings bit was cheesy, but maybe a good association teaser.

Puzzle 9

id. The analogy is sheep is to lamb as goat is to kid. A kid is a young goat, just as a lamb is a young sheep.

Puzzle 10

1,000m. In Roman numerals cm, mm and m equal 900, 2,000 and 1,000 respectively.
