There was also a presentation to retiring President Miss Joy Fisher.

Joy has been whippet racing for 68 years and has been a stalwart of Harvel since it's inception, helping the club out in times of financial slumps, and of course was secretary for many years.

Her retirement is not, as you may expect on health grounds, but because her insurance company won't renew her policy, therefore driving will no longer be an option.

She was presented with flowers, a framed photograph and other mementos.

I feel we will still see her racing again though - as soon as she finds a suitable chauffeur :thumbsup:

It really was a great day at Harvel, everything went smoothly with some great racing. It was sad to see Joy who was such an important person for Harvel having to retire because of transport, but we wish her all the best and hope she finds a way to come and visit.

Oh and well done to Berlington Bertie winning the 25-32lb group especially as he had to start in the car park :lol: .
