The SaveABulls campaign is a veterinary lead campaign which is researching into the welfare implications breed specific legislation has on seized dogs. We have already been in contact with some responsible dog owners that have been through the heart brake and strain of having their bull breed seized. We have seen several cases of dogs that have been returned to their owners after being seized and have been shocked by the condition of them. They are notably underweight with their ribs and spine showing, poor coat condition and sores to areas of their body. A big concern is their change in behaviour. Majority of the dogs go into the kennels well behaved, well socialised and well controlled by their owners but are coming home showing signs of nervousness, untrusting and the owners have to build up their confidence again. You could argue that putting these dogs into police kennels rather than staying at home is likely to pose a higher risk to public safety.
Our goal is to end this unjustified law and to do so we need to hear the multiple stories of dogs being seized and then returned in poor conditions. We are members of the parliament group APGAW- all party group for animal welfare and we feel the government will not be able to ignore the huge impact on dog welfare this law creates.
If you feel comfortable sharing your story with us then please respond here of email us on SaveABulls@gmail.com. For more information on the campaign please see us on www.facebook.com/The-SaveABulls or www.twitter.com/SaveABulls
