Hi everyone, I am new to this site and am looking for lots of advice.

I am looking to get a small dog that likes to go for long walks. I really like King Charles Spaniels but have been put off by people I have spoken to and things that I have read on the internet eg. lots of health problems.

I like the border terriers but to be honest I am do not know what type of dog to get.

I was widowed suddenly 2 years ago and my sons have just left home so I want a medium sized dog that likes walks but is not too boisterous.

I welcome any advice.

Best wishes

Diane

Hi Diane, I'm new too! Border terriers are gorgeous. We recently lost our terrier who we adored. This week I am going to look at a dog for sale - the owner says it's a Cavachon which is a King Charles spaniel/Bichon Frise. He looks gorgeous, but I'm not sure if they're telling the truth about the breed as he looks more like a terrier to me. He's gorgeous whatever, though! good luck In your choice. Have you thought about a rescue dog? The RSPCA or Battersea always have lots of dogs needing homes,

Hi thanks for your reply, If I am honest my head is in bits looking at dogs and trying to decided which one is for me. I keep going back to spaniels but do not want a springer. I love the sound of border terrier but I do not like the wirery hair (that may just be a female thing). I know it is a big decision choosing a dog and it is a big commitment so I do not want to make a mistake. Hope your dog turns out to be the right one. I will keep looking on here for your update. Best wishes :)

Hi and welcome to the forum from Rocky and me.

My advice would be to visit a rescue centre and have a chat with the staff there, they will be able to match a breed or cross breed with your home life and requirments.

Good luck
