Hope to meet someone here with experience with this rare breed.

Welcome - this is the first time I've heard of this breed. If you got the dog from a breeder, maybe they could put you in touch with someone?

Not a breed I'd heard of until now. Do tell us something about them.

Hi and welcome:) I hadn't heard of this breed either so I cheated and googled!! A handsome looking breed, Portuguese Cattle dog it says, so a large breed guarder of live stock.
Is yours a pup or a rescue? Would love to see a pic if poss?

We got her when she was 7 months old.
Tre former owner had a couple of them and they had a surprise litter. Her parents are both from Castro Laboreiro, Portugal.
She is now 3 years and 5 months old.

These give an impression...
To answer your question on what kind of dog she is, the Castro Laboreiro dog is a moloss type of dog, class 2 (Mastiffs) and they were used as life stock guardians in northern parts of Portugal. They are lovely family dogs if you treat them fair, they do not stand harshness when trained and they can be quite sceptical to other dogs even if properly socialized, that is a challenge.
I live in the Netherlands, this breed is rare here
but I know there are some breeders in Britain.

The only one we know with dogs like these is the breeder (accidental breeder, it was an unplanned litter)
He has two of them
