I was wondering if some of the people on this board had any experience with a dog being excessively tight after a run on the bend. My whippet ran a 350 m and after the race his muscles were rock hard to the point where he looked a little "swollen" for a lack of a better word. I mean all of his muscles (shoulders, back, glutes) were very tight, but not cramped. It changed his gait just slightly when walking him out and he cooled off fine and his muscles eventually loosened back up, but it took quite a while. The thing that concerns me is that the dogs are supposed to run this distance over here in the USA 3 times in a racing day, and I scratched him after that first race because I was worried he might over exert himself in the next race.

Any experiences shared would be very helpful.

I give a supplement that is supposed to help with cramping and tieing up, but it does not have vit c.

I'll keep in mind vit c and talk with my vet about supplementation amounts.

Thanks.
