Help with sleeping problems

We have a male German Shepherd puppy for 1 week now. The puppy is 9 weeks old. For the 1st week the puppy was sleeping in our bedroom on his own bed. We now want to move him to another room in the house.

We placed his bed and blanket with his toys and stuff in the new room and closed the door. There is a dim light on in the room. I sat with him until he fell asleep and then left. About 30 minutes later he woke up and started crying, he was scratching the door to get out. He keeps on moaning and crying and scratching the door until one of us comes and opens it. He had his food and water earlier, he did do his no 1 and 2. So its not that he wants to go outside.

I need help, please !

How do I get him to sleep in his new place ?

Personally, I would not recommend seperating a puppy from its owners over night.

The little one is only 9 weeks old and he's only been with you for a week. That's not a long time.

A puppy is comparable to a baby which constantly needs the presence and warmth of the people caring for it.

I would let him sleep in the bedroom. Many dogs, when they are older, start prefering their own places to sleep anyway.

I would move much more slowly with the sleeping arrangements. If you carefully train him to sleep in a nice comfy den like a soft travel crate then, when he is ready, you can move it slowly towards the door of the bedroom until he is just outside, then slowly close the door. Once settled outside the bedroom he can then be moved to the place you would like him to sleep. He might like an old item of clothing with your scent on to help him settle. When he goes to his own room.
