My dog has recently been diagnosed with liver disease and my vet has recommended her to go on a hepatic food diet....commercial foods in particular. My dog (Jack russel, 14 years) has increasingly become more picky about food and is barely eating the food (royal cannin, wet). I understand the way the food is supposed to work is to be given as a sole food and not mixed with anything else but she has to eat something at least. I'm wondering if I should just home cook her good but I want to be sure I get all the proportions right etc....has anyone tried this or may be I should see a dog nutritionist?

If it was my dog, I'd probably try to find a nutritionist. I think I've read of Milk Thistle supplements for dogs with liver problems but do check that with your vet first if you want to try them.

Yep, I agree too. My ferrets were both on milk thistle for a while to support their livers, prescribed by the vet. So I'd definitely ask your vet about this.
