HEPPSYBAR
Heppsybar is an 8 year old greyhound lady who was used for breeding after her racing days. Her pretty, black spotted coat is lacking in condition at the moment, but now that she has good food and a soft bed, it won’t be long before she gets a gleam back in it.
Heppsybar has had a long, hard working life and is most definitely ready for a bit of R&R. She is soaking up the home comforts and is more than content to just snooze the day away in her soft, warm bed. She is a sweet, placid girl who has likely seen it all during her racing life and so is calm and dependable when out on walks.
Heppsybar recently came along with KGC to a pet awareness day in the local PetMania pet shop to help promote greyhounds as pets. She behaved fabulously and perfectly demonstrated the relaxed and affectionate nature that is the hallmark of a retired hound. She is a lovely old girl who adores getting affection and is completely content with the simple things in life.
This lovely lady has been well behaved with other dogs of all sizes and is sharing her foster home with several other greyhounds and a small terrier. She is not cat friendly, however. She is very well behaved in the home, travels brilliantly in the car and is housetrained.
Like most greyhounds, Heppsybar will not need a huge amount of exercise. She will be more than content with two 20min walks a day and perhaps a chance to stretch her legs offlead in a secure area once or twice a week. In between her walks, Heppsybar is a complete couch potato and only needs some good food and cuddles to make her day complete.
In general greyhounds are calm, mannerly dogs that are well used to being handled. They can fit very well in to a wide range of different lifestyles and usually adjust to the home life very quickly. Their soft, easy going nature often makes them ideal to live in a family with children, while their love of lazing around and low exercise requirements can make them perfect for the elderly. Greyhounds also don’t shed as much as other more popular dog breeds and this can make them suitable to live with allergy sufferers.
Heppsybar is currently in foster care in Co. Kerry, Ireland, and can be transported via Kerry Greyhounds to the UK or Europe if a suitable home offer comes up. This will be organised and paid for by Kerry Greyhounds, and we ask only for a donation to help cover costs. Please note that adopters will need to travel to our nearest collection point to pick her up. She is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, de-flea'd and wormed and a homecheck will be required as part of the adoption procedure.
If you are interested in adopting Heppsybar, please email me on tamakin_84@yahoo.co.uk for our adoption application form and information pack. Thanks!
