HERBIE

**UPDATED: MAY 2012**

Herbie is a lovely 6.5 year old greyhound boy. He was a family pet who has now come to us as sadly his family had to move into accommodation that doesn’t allow animals. He is a lovely black boy with a very gentle face and some distinguished slivering around his muzzle. Herbie is also a wee bit special in that he has an overshot jaw, meaning that his nose far outreaches his lower jaw. It gives him a rather endearing little face, but will pose him no problems.

~ Personality ~

Herbie has only just come to us so we are still getting to know him. He is obviously confused and a bit lost right now due to the upheaval, but is still a very sweet and affectionate hound who craves human company. We hope to get to know him more in the next few weeks, and will update soon. Please don’t let this stop you from enquiring about him, though, as the sooner this older boy can find his forever home and start to settle, the better.

~ In the Home ~

Herbie has been living in a home for the past few years, so is well used and adjusted to the household sights and sounds. He has just moved into his temporary foster home until he finds his new forever family, and he is settling well considering his recent stresses. He is well behaved and mannerly, and being an older boy he is content to sleep most of the day way in between his walks.

~ Other Animals ~

Herbie is very good with other dogs of all shapes and sizes. He is polite and amenable with all dogs, though is not suitable to live with cats.

~ Out and About ~

Like most greyhounds, Herbie is a lazy boy at heart and does not need a huge amount of exercise. He will be content with two 30min walks a day and perhaps a chance to stretch his legs offlead in a safe area once or twice a week.

~ Greyhounds as Pets ~

In general greyhounds are calm, mannerly dogs that are well used to being handled. They can fit very well in to a wide range of different lifestyles and usually adjust to the home life very quickly. Their soft, easy going nature often makes them ideal to live in a family with children, while their love of lazing around and low exercise requirements can make them perfect for the elderly. Greyhounds also don’t shed as much as other more popular dog breeds and this can make them suitable to live with allergy sufferers.

~ Where Am I? ~

Herbie is currently being fostered in Norfolk. He can be homed anywhere in the UK, but please note that you may be required to travel to his foster home to meet him.

~ Want To Adopt Me? ~

Herbie is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, de-flea'd and wormed and a homecheck will be required as part of the adoption procedure.

If you are interested in adopting Herbie, please visit our website’s KERRY GREYHOUNDS UK[/B] ~~

Kerry Greyhounds UK is a small voluntary organisation that is based in Norfolk, England. It focuses on rehoming unwanted Irish greyhounds and lurchers, as huge numbers are bred in Ireland each year and homes are few and far between. KGUK operates through a network of volunteers spaced over Ireland and the UK. We can look after approximately 30 dogs at any one time in both kennels and foster homes.

Each dog is neutered, vaccinated, & microchipped before being adopted (unless stated otherwise).

We assess the suitability of all home offers, and we have homed greyhounds in all corners of the UK.
