Hope to get some good advice on here for me and my young dog.

He is very active and needless to say at times runs me ragged - still he is a lovely boy and gives so much joy and just wants to be loved. Have been socializing him at a puppy play-but it seems to make him manic and it is more like a mini riot event:)

Hello and welcome.

I have to be honest, I'm not convinced some of these socialisation events are helpful - as you have seen, they can make puppies like overexcited toddlers on blue smarties.

You might find this piece interesting - Socialising your puppy

Welcome to the forum :) Just so you know, we love puppy pictures! ;)

I agree with JoanneF about puppy parties. If not very well run, they can teach some dogs how to be bullies, while others can learn that other dogs can be scary... Think Lord of the Flies...

Hello, Welcome.
How old is your puppy, we have 5 sometimes six Cockers varying from 13 years down to 2 years, all the working type.
All of our lot are settled and not manic, their just lovely to have around.
How does your puppy day start and finish, what do you do together, what does he do when you are at work and where does he sleep at night.
Another question: what type of food does he have?
As Judy N has mentioned , we love all pictures:rolleyes:

Thank you all - will try and sort photo - although I am to say the least hopeless at anything slighty to do with taking photo's let alone attempting to post them. Hoo is coming 8 months - and I guess you call it the naughties.
Do agree about these puppy play sessons. He did attend puppy classes for 8 weeks that we accredited with KC guidelines. So that went really well.

Also he seemed to be picked on by the other dogs and the owners just stood laughing. Problem with this too is the age thing under 12 months but a wee dachshund of 4months against a 10 months old Lab or similar. Just seems a crazy way bringing young dogs together.
Some vets do get togethers - but sadly none did round me.

I'm another who can see the risks of puppy parties. Emma's work is brilliant - she is a very knowledgeable person.

Hi and welcome from me too:)
