Hello, i am new to this, and feeling a bit anxious about it. I have wanted a dog again for years, but due to anxiety i have never quite managed to get one. I have always panicked at the last minute and chickened out...until yesterday when we got our new puppy called Hicks. I didn't go to collect him so i wouldn't chicken out, me and the kids are in love with him. But i have never had a puppy before and im worried about doing something wrong. Looking forward to tips and support here.

Welcome, Katy - do tell us about Hicks, what breed is he?

One thing you need to know. Yes, you will feel anxious. You will wonder what on earth you have done, how can this puppy be normal, with its needle-sharp teeth and manic moments, will you ever have a night's unbroken sleep or a moment's peace again, are you doing it right, why isn't Hicks doing what the books say he should - because this is what it's like for all new owners!

So ask for advice, or just come on and have a rant/moan, whenever you need, and we'll support you:)

Thank you so much, thats exactly how i feel. Hicks is a tiny black and white cross breed. I was told he was half poodle but he looks nothing like one at all. He looks perfect to me though.

You've got kids....I'm sure you'll manage a pup (.. or two) ;):DThe good thing is that bringing up a pup doesn't take as long what you need to suffer with babies and then toddlers following horrid teenagers
You'll be fine...and we'll be here to nudge you forward should you have some doubtful moments.

Thanks, its nice to know ive got people to turn to for help and advice, im going to need it!.

Katy, what I get from having dogs over the years is, they calm me down from the crazy world, they make me aware that they need my help, they make me laugh, they have at some point make me worry for them but that passes, but overall they have given me the best memories ever that I will never forget,, so enjoy your pup, there’s plenty of knowledge on hear from Good people so if your having some trouble just ask .
