Hi everyone,
Im new on here so thought I would introduce myself and the reason Im on here:
I am the co-ordinator of a scheme which operates in Suffolk and I would like to spread the word about the scheme and raise abit more profile. I work for Ipswich and East Suffolk Headway and the majority of our clients come to our centre but we do help people from anywhere in East Suffolk.
I have prisoners of Hollesley Bay help me train Blue Cross Dogs and we rehome them to people with neurological conditions.
We also have centre dogs who the clients can interact with, such as walking, grooming, playing. We are also now in the process of trying to take the centre dogs out to other establishments to work alongside other profesionals and help with peoples therapy and rehab!!!
The dogs are great at boosting self esteem and confidence. They also provide companionship for people when they need them most as most people lose all their friends and even family when they have a brain injury. The dogs also provide a way back in to other social networks via dog walking etc.
The scheme is going great so far but we rely on funding and donations to operate. So far we are able to operate to the end of the year and keeping fingers crossed we will receive some funding bids we have applied for!
If people would like any more info on the scheme then please do not hesitate to ask. And please help me spread the word about our fantastic scheme that helps so many different people and animals.
