Well, since I'm new here I thought I ought to say hi and introduce myself a bit. I've got two lurchers, one just under a year and one a year and a half. The younger is 1/2whippet, 3/8grey and 1/8bc which down off the laguna lines on the whippet side. She looks pure whippet and I want to lure course her. I've not run either of them anything long as I've heard it can cause them to blowout or burnout their lungs when they're young. So, now I've caught you up there, I've also bought two coursing systems. One is the continuous loop and the other is a straight drag. I've nether been to an event nor seen one so I haven't a clue as far as actually doing it, but I'm hoping to learn as I'd like to get start this spring and perhaps be lucky enough to form a small club even.

Some Q's:

When is it too cold to set this up and run the dogs? I've known a few people that have had full blooded greys that have broken toes running even on ball fields and it seems to me that it always happened in colder months? Summer would be too hot I'm sure but what about winter as it is?

What should I watch out for if anything? I've watched a few vids such as are available on youtube and others but as I said, I have no firsthand knowlege, I just like the dogs and the sport looks to be great fun! (w00t)
