I took Holly for a nice long walk today, she seemed her normal self dashing about and generally having a fun time until i got her home and about 2 hours later started acting strange....trotting around whining and crouching her bum end down on the rug in the dining room, then kicking out with her back legs   (like some dogs do after they've had a poo :b )

I checked her thoroughly over, lifting her tail up and everything seemed fine, also put pressure all round her back end and back as i thought she might of hurt her back but again, all seemed fine. She didnt flinch or seem in any pain when i felt her. Also checked all her feet and pads to see if anything could be irritating them

She seemed bit better now, shes asleep in the lounge but has buried herself under the throws..which is unsaul for her. The only thing i can think of is that she could be coming into season, this will be her second season if so (the last one was 6months ago). As shes our first bitch im not sure if this would be typical behavior? she wasnt wierd like this last time though, and her 'private bit' isnt swollen at all, nor is she licking herself.

Being as she wasnt showing any of these signs earlier today im unsure whether it would come on just like that if its season signs? surely they would appear gradually? Any advice or thoughts much welcomed!

She is certainly due to come in season within the next 3-4 month, ans I notice very subtle changes in my bitches' behavior up to couple of months ahead. But the operative word being SUBTLE. I would just watch her but i doubt she will be in season tomorrow.

Something else must have caused her behavior, something not apparent to you, like she may have brushed her legs/feet on some plant and the smell enoys her. If that is the case bath may help. :luck:

Thanks for that seraphina  I'll be keeping my eye on her.

Thats a good thought about the brushing her legs/feet on something theory as i took her down to grasslands by the river today, somewhere where she doesnt go often , so it could be something down there. Also thinking about it...i sprayed all the dogs bedding with a doggie deoderant spray today ( its new), although the others are fine.

hi lisa my dogs do all the things you have said when they have been stung by nettles so it could be that :huggles:
