HOLLY

**UPDATED: JANUARY 2013**

Location: Foster home in Norfolk, UK.

Key Points: Very affectionate, gentle, cat friendly, would like canine company.

Holly is a young lurcher puppy who is currently 5 months old. Holly’s mum was rescued off the streets in Ireland when heavily pregnant, and Holly was born there before coming to Kerry Greyhounds UK with her brother Billy to find a loving family. Holly is a teeny tiny girl at just 19” to the shoulder, and has a lovely soft fawn coat with a thin white stripe down her face.

~ Personality ~

Generally: Cuddly, playful, cheeky, very sweet.

In short, Holly is just cute as a button! She is very friendly and adores cuddles from everyone and anyone, and her small size means she CAN be a lapdog lurcher! As long as you don’t mind kisses, that is! Holly has a lovely little personality. She is in general quiet and gentle but still does have her rambunctious moments of cheeky fun. Just enough to keep you on your toes! Holly is going to be a really fantastic furry friend.

~ In the Home ~

Generally: Almost housetrained, still chews, learning the rules.

Holly has been in her foster home for a month now, and her learning of the house rules is coming along nicely. She is just about housetrained and asks to go out. Holly is very responsive to people and loves learning new things. She is currently working on sitting for her dinner and to go to bed when told. She really loves her human cuddles and belly rubs. Holly also adores kids and could live happily in a family with children over the age of 8.

New owners will need to remember that she is still a puppy and still does the things puppies do, which includes lots of playing, chewing and digging, so definitely a bit of destruction. Teaching Holly to chew only her toys and not any item she picks up is an on-going process of persistent but gentle redirection from any household object to one of her own toys. Holly also has a habit of weeing if she gets overexcited, though we expect her to grow out of this as she reaches adulthood. If prepared for this wee monster and comfortable with working through these habits until she is past her chewing phase, then Holly will be a truly fantastic dog to have. She has oodles of potential to do anything asked of her, and could adapt to a range of lifestyles and home types. In short, with a bit of patience and repetition at the start, you will have a bonded friend for life.

~ Other Animals ~

Generally: Good with dogs, cats and small furries. Would benefit from canine company.

Holly is very good with other animals including dogs and cats. She is a naturally submissive wee girl and can be a bit nervous when meeting new dogs, but soon comes out of herself and bounds around in play. She can sometimes be a bit on the shy side, and so we feel her absolute ideal home is one with another dog or two already present to teach her that there's actually nothing to be afraid of. Holly is not currently living with cats but has been cat tested and passed with flying colours. Please note that if cats are involved in the homing, we only place dogs in and around the Norfolk area.

~ Out and About ~

Generally: Can be shy at times, needs confidence building. Good in car.

Holly is an inquisitive little girl, though at times the big wide world can scare her a wee bit. She just needs to build a bit of confidence in herself and trust in her owners, and we expect these mild nerves will disappate. As already mentioned, we also think that having another confident dog present in the home will greatly help Holly come out of her shell. Time and gentle repetition is all this girlie needs to become excellently adjusted and an all-round star.

~ Where Am I? ~

Holly is in a foster home in Norfolk, UK. She can be homed anywhere in the UK, but please note that you will be required to travel to us in Norfolk to meet her.

~ Want To Adopt Me? ~

Holly is vaccinated, microchipped, de-flea'd and wormed and a homecheck will be required as part of the adoption procedure. She is not yet neutered due to her age, and new owners will need to agree to have this done as soon as she reaches the required age. Please feel free to discuss this with us in more detail when you make your enquiry.

If you are interested in adopting Holly, you can contact me (Tam) via email: tam@kerrygreyhounds.co.uk, or speak directly to Bronwen by phoning: 075 000 62648. Emails are usually replied to within 24 hrs.

There is an application form for adopting a Kerry Greyhound, and we will ask you to fill it in as the first step in the adoption process. To speed up this process, we recommend you do this before emailing/calling. You can find the form, as well as further information on our homing procedures, on the Adoption Page: http://s300889640.websitehome.co.uk/uk/adoption.html.

Thank you.

~~ KERRY GREYHOUNDS UK ~~

Kerry Greyhounds UK is a voluntary organisation based in Norfolk, England. It focuses on rehoming unwanted Irish greyhounds and lurchers, as huge numbers are bred in Ireland each year and homes are few and far between. KGUK operates through a network of volunteers spread over Ireland and the UK. We can look after approximately 30 dogs at any one time in both kennels and foster homes.

Each dog is neutered, vaccinated, & microchipped before being adopted (unless stated otherwise).

We assess the suitability of all home offers, and we have homed greyhounds in all corners of the UK. If interested in one of our hounds, please feel free to contact us via the following:
