Hi

I have been giving my 5 month old pup lily's bedtime biscuits. they work a treat to calm his hyper behaviour and wind him down before his overnight snooze. However, they are expensive. the main ingredients are passion flower and chamomile so I am thinking of just buying the herbs and making my own organic doggie biscuits- has anyone done this?

In addition my pup has a car phobia and thinking they may help calm him in the car? Someone suggested prescribed meds from the vet but I would rather go with natural herbs etc

I haven't done this, but I know various people who have. They also included valerian and skullcap in their biscuits, which are also calming herbs. All of the herbs could be equally used for calming anxiety too.

One potential downside to doing these yourself is that they may turn out to be more expensive than buying commercially made treats, whether you buy Lily's or Feelwell's, which are also great.

Hmm as far as I can see the herbs are pretty cheap in terms of how much you get- Lilys are ££ he gets through two a day and so a pack only lasts a week - I assume I can probably pack more goodness-i.e add some herns for immune system, good skin, fur etc and so have a more beneficial treat...I'm thinking of one for calming and oen for bedtime too as I don't like giving him chamomile to make him sleepy in the dayto clam him, I just want some that simply calm

You can actually add rescue remedy to dogs water during the day to help with a stressed anxious dog. :)
